* Unfortunantly, the death count has increased dramtically to 2,898 since this morning due to a change in a new reporting method. This will be reflected in tomorrow's numbers report IMO. Please read the following article as it is difficult to explain. New reporting method updates Iowa’s COVID-19 death toll to 2,898

* On a side note, since the change in calculating deaths was implemented numbers from various counties are all over the place and listed as differently on the 2 above parts of the site. My county either lost 4 deaths or stayed the same. Another neigboring county either gained 13 deaths or stayed the same, etc. It is all very confusing.

access Daily case totals updated at 11:00 a.m. Deaths not yet updated on this part of site.
* On a side note, I do question the number of active cases especially since they are subtracting the number of deaths and IDPH now includes those who doctors say passsed form the virus without a positive test.

@24Roses (or anyone else that would like to chime in): I’m perplexed by the Monday November 9 spike in positive cases. 14k positives. There were two days 9 and 10 days before with 6k each, not sure if that timing implies a connection. Regardless, the change is so abrupt and it all seems so out of place... do you have any thoughts?

I'm confused. I think your picture is showing close to those numbers for November 5th (Thurs.)? Either way, the Iowa Covid site shows 5,185 postive cases on November 5th and 7,385 for November 9th. Case Counts Graphs can be found here with those dates. I'm not good at posting pictures. I'm not sure what site the 14,000 positive for that day came from, but I'm guessing that the number is wrong. So that is my thought on why it seems out of place!

You know what? I think that spike is combined days. It jumps right from Nov 5 to Nov 9. If that represents combined total for Nov 5, 6, 7 & 8 I can believe 14k is legit.
