It is understood they died in a violent way and one line of inquiry is a double murder and suicide.

It is also understood that the three were known to each other.

Local representatives have said at least two of the victims may be foreign.

Flowers carried by members of an emotional family arrived at the scene on Thursday evening.

In reference to the victims’ identities, SDLP Assembly member Justin McNulty said: “There is an international dimension.”

This is the mother and daughter whose bodies were found alongside a man in a suspected murder-suicide in Co Down .

Police are investigating after the grim discovery yesterday. It is believed that the bodies lay undiscovered at Glin Ree Court for three days.

The mum and daughter were named by a friend as 15-year-old Alyson and 37-year-old Giselle Irinna, originally from Colombia.

The friend told Belfast Live: “She was a quiet girl, hard working. When she was with us she was very funny.”

The man, believed to be from Scotland, is understood to have been in a relationship with Giselle.

The pair lived in the flat with their two dogs. It is believed that Giselle has just one family member, her sister, living locally.

Sinn Fein Councillor Charlie Casey said he was briefed by a police officer, who said that the full extent of what has happened will frighten the wider public.

He told Belfast Live: “What he did say was we can rule out gas and carbon monoxide.

“Other than that it’s a bit of a disaster. When the news and the information does come out it will be a shock to the entire community.”

“You would have passed the daughter in the elevator, you’d have passed her in the stairs, you’d have passed her coming in the door.

“She was a really nice kid, she was just like any other child would be.”

He said that the man ‘kept himself to himself’. He added: “You’d wouldn’t have seen him about that often.”

Does that mean they won't release full details, only what is necessary?

My thoughts are with their family and friends.

I think it means the murders were very grisly so when it comes out how they were done people will be horrified.

The full details will all come out. It might be the man hasn't been named yet as police are still trying to inform his family.

A PSNI spokesman said tonight: "Following postmortems detectives can confirm that the cause of 15-year-old Allison Marimon-Herrera's death was strangulation.

"Results are not definitive for Giselle, 37, however at this stage detectives believe there is a strong possibility she too was strangled.

"Results of a postmortem on the body of a 38-year-old man, who police believe was Giselle Marimon-Herrera's partner and who also lived at the Glin Ree Court, Newry, apartment, have concluded that he died by hanging."

Newry deaths: Mum murdered days before she planned to leave NI for good, says her heartbroken father

“When we couldn’t get a visa to visit her, that’s when she decided she would return to Colombia and live here with us.”

Fabian Marimon and wife Elizabeth were expecting to welcome Gisella and her daughter, Allison, back to Colombia for good next week.

Mr Marimon told Belfast Live: “The last time we spoke was Saturday, the day before she was killed. She was happy and laughing and everything seemed normal.

“We were expecting her home in the coming days. We are a close family and we missed each other too much.

Mr Marimon fears his daughter was murdered by her lover in a fit of anger over her news she was leaving.

The body of a 38-year-old man, named as Russell Steele, thought to have been in a relationship with Gisella for nine months, was also found at the property.

He was originally from Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.

Gisella's dad believes she was lying murdered in her home while he was trying to contact her from Colombia.

Fabian sent Gisella’s sister, who lives in Northern Ireland, to knock the apartment door in Newry on Thursday after they had not heard from Gisella for a number of days.

Mr Marimon, who lives in Barranquilla, said: “Irina was beautiful. She would never harm anyone. I don’t understand how someone could do this.

“They have to be evil. Whoever did this is not normal.

“The last time we spoke was Saturday, the day before she was killed. She was happy and laughing and everything seemed normal. I spoke to her every day.

“When my other daughter called me from Northern Ireland and told me that she had not seen or heard from Irina or Allison, I told her to go to Irina’s and knock on the door.”

With no reply, Ms Marimon spoke to the PSNI and accompanied officers to the flat in Glin Ree Court where Gisella, 37, and 15-year-old daughter Allison were found dead. Gisella’s Chihuahua was also killed.
