His devastated daughter told Belfast Live: "My father Kevin McGrath has been missing from the Galway area since at least the 27th October.

"I did a live appeal a few days ago on Galway FM and his landlord called to say he had said he was heading North to Lisburn," she added.

"He has a brother in a residential care home in Lisburn so it would make sense he might head that way."

Mr McGrath, 63, has lived in Galway for 35 years but often visits his hometown.

"I live in Mexico and am flying home at 19.20 today your time and will be out of reach until I land in Dublin at 08.30 your time Thursday morning," she added.

Her cousin Ryan Boyle, also from Lisburn, spoke to Belfast Live.

He said: "Basically what happened was Kevin walked into a bar called Kennedy's in Galway on the week of the 21st of October and handed in three bags of clothes and random stuff and said 'I'll be back in for these later'.

"He never went back in for them so between the 21st and the 27th there is a big question mark about where he has been or what he has been through.

"The Garda are investigating some potential sightings between the 21st and 27th of October but after that there are no sightings of him."
