Gardai investigating the disappearance of Tina Satchwell are searching an area of woodland after a male witness came forward.
The Irish Mirror can exclusively reveal a man reported suspicious behaviour in the area at the time she was last seen.

The source said that he saw a man leaving the woodland close to the village of Castlemartyr in East Cork, at the time of Tina’s disappearance in suspicious circumstances.

presser 11.30am.. Garda will hold a press conference about the investigation at Midleton Garda Station tomorrow at 11.30am.
Oh my indeed.

Maybe I've got tunnel vision, but I can only think of one reason why a man acting suspicious would link this to Tina.

The pool of men publicly associated with Tina is pretty small. (Trying to stay within TOS).

But I could be wrong, maybe it was the date that jogged someone's memory, rather than a face. Or something else.

IDK.

yep.

we never knew if she returned from that market... so, yeah.. date..

Gardaí are beginning a major forest and moorland search for missing woman Tina Satchwell after they received "reliable and credible information" regarding the movement of specific people in the area.

...

Garda sources say that the Castlemartyr area is being searched after they received the information "which pertains to the movements of specific individuals in the vicinity of the woods".

...

They have enlisted search dogs from the UK to assist in the search for missing Tina.

There is approximately 250 acres of woodland and scrubland in the area, but gardaí are focusing their search on an area of 40 acres.

...

Meanwhile, officers hit out at rumours which circulated over recent days in connection with the case, saying they were "unhelpful and potentially very upsetting".

Gardaí received numerous phone calls on the basis of the rumours and social media speculation. The calls came at the height of the Garda response to Storm Emma when dozens of east Cork communities were cut off by snow and ice.

"To say it was unhelpful is putting it very mildly," one senior garda said.

The searches are expected to take place over the next week once weather conditions ease.

It is understood the searches were planned for late February but had to be rescheduled because of the heavy snowfalls. Ms Satchwell's husband Richard is adamant that she left home to deal with personal issues.

It will involve over 60 gardaí, including members of the North Cork Divisional Search Team, backed by specialist search dogs.
The Defence Forces engineer corps are providing logistical support on site.
Members of the Satchwell, including Tina's husband, Richard, have been informed.

Husband said earlier in the case he was gone for 2 hours , which at the time made no sense for a 60 minute round trip for fish when they lived by a harbour (and as no-one spends an hour at an Aldi )
If one were to say ...drive to Aldi , then to the forest and back to Youghal (or whichever direction taken first) works out on average 1hour 30 mins so plenty of time !

I would imagine that if he's saying he spent an hour mooching in Aldi (easily done) , then police will have checked Aldi cctv long ago to corroborate his story?

We discussed this early posts on this thread. i recall he had a few other chores as well, but could not clarify exactly what they were..

Yeah, am pretty sure they would have explored the CCTV footage.

Also, that was the day after the market..

We have no reports of anybody seeing her alive since the market.

That evening he went out to eat alone.
I'm not sure whether that was normal or not. I seem to remeber that she was a vegetarian? Not sure.. but all the links are on this thread, pretty much everything that was ever printed.

one article stood out.. it was a Times (UK) article, quite different in tone and content than all other media.. I posted the link myself.. it's here.. think I probably c/p a large portion of it too..

In a massive effort to open the case, I have searched for information suggesting some stranger or associate was involved.

I found nothing to that effect but am still doing the exercise.. social media is full to the gills with blame.

so, it was St Patrick's weekend, Youghal, more than likely received an influx of visitors for the weekend. It is likely there were many strangers in town.

It is, IMO equally likely a few remained after the weekend..

Could she have encountered them? Probably unlikely as they had both attended the car boot sale on Sunday.

I wondered what she purchased there?

I wonder about her large catalogue bills that were never paid with the alleged 20k..

The Gardai are investing tremendous resources into this new search. One would hope the cynics are incorrect when they state the timing 'co-incidentally' clashes with what is probably the most damning police scandal of Maurice Mc Cabe..( the disclosures tribunal heard his testimony today)

I digress by mentioning it and it's got nothing to do with the case.

Its much easier to get information on US cases.. this has dragged on for so long with only a single unsuspected suspect...

I don't know anymore.
I do know it doesn't take a full month to organise a search and I would also have imagined the police should have gone in first with the cadaver dogs.
They're bringing the dogs (fromUK) in now, when the place will be full of searchers and machines.. hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

sorry those were my words and own opinions ( should of said )

He only said "when I came back around 2 hours later "

video of his comments here : https://www.independent.ie/irish-ne...sband-of-missing-tina-satchwell-35912437.html

I think it more likely on day of market .. if what he says is not the truth.

BUT, there is no way he could have dug a very deep hole, buried her, did aldi in 2 hrs..

Unless it was pre meditated and pre prepared.. Again, there is no evidence at all linking him to her demise or even her demise itself at this stage.

I suspect the Gardai have painstakingly pieced together someones movements through mobile phone records and or other stuff like road cameras. They've worked out someone was at those woods and are carrying out the search based on this.

The husband seems to have taken this new development badly - he couldn't even look his friend reporter in the eye.

RTE 1, NOW.. another interview with Richard.. missed start of it.. will try finding link..

This line is from the Primetime programme...
He discussed his own quietness and his failure to retaliate when she was 'angry' with him, he stated she told him his quietness was 'embarrassing' to her, almost..
a new spin, this time making full eye contact and tear filled eyes..

I'm less sure now..

[h=1]'It makes no sense': Husband of missing Tina Satchwell says she would not have gone to woods[/h]In recent days, gardaí have received information leading them to the parkland. It is believed that a person acting suspiciously was spotted exiting the woods on the night Satchwell was supposed to have gone missing.
Speaking today, Richard Satchwell said that it was strange that Tina would have gone to the woods, and that he believes she never would have gone there willingly.
He also said he did not believe that she had ever been to Mitchel’s Wood before.
“I know for a fact – because she wouldn’t walk any strange woods with me – so there’s no way that she would do it on her own,” he said.
I know she never has [been there] while she has been with me. And she’s been with me since she was 17 and I can’t imagine her ever going there as a child.
Later, he said:
“It makes no sense at all because I know Tina.

Gardaí believe this account to be credible and are now focusing their attention on the Castlemartyr area. Nearby CCTV, where available, is being reviewed. In some cases, the CCTV from the night may have been overwritten by newer files due to the length of time which has elapsed.

“She obviously felt she needed a break, to get her thoughts together, to get her head straight,” he told Prime Time last year.
“She knew she was depressed and one thing she always said is she didn’t want to end up on antidepressants. And I personally think she went away to sort her own feelings out.
I know that leading up to her going, the frequency of our long conversations had altered somewhat. The bit I don’t get is her not saying she’s struggling.
Richard Satchwell told RTÉ that he doesn’t believe that his wife is dead and that she must have had help going missing.
Making an appeal for her to come home, Richard said: “I just want you to get in touch, to let people know that you’re alright and if you need time on your own, fair enough.”
Richard Satchwell said that he believes that there is somebody that knows where his wife is.

Detectives are determined to preserve the privacy of what searchers are doing at Mitchel's Wood - and even erected more than 100m of black plastic sheeting across the security fencing in front of the site entrance.

The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has since granted an application for a temporary no fly zone over the specific site involved.

"A temporary restricted area (TRA) has been put in place. A TRA is an airspace of defined dimensions above the land areas or territorial waters of a State, within which the flight of aircraft (including drones) is restricted in accordance with specific conditions. (ICAO Annex 2: Rules of the Air)
"Drones may be subject to seizure by An Garda Siochana as evidence for potential prosecution and in the interest of Aviation Safety.
(I never saw restrictions like this in Ireland before)

THIS!!

Gardai received information from a witness who claimed that they saw a blonde-haired woman matching Ms Satchwell's appearance in the vicinity of Mitchel's Wood last year.

The witness claimed the woman was accompanied by someone by someone but did not see her leave the area.

He also said his wife is the kind of person who would not go down without putting up a fight.

"Say if somebody walked past Tina and insulted her... Tina would have her say," Mr Satchwell said.
He then explained how he was the total opposite, and that's what attracted her to him.

So what are people thinking now?
