I'm seeing Jenny or Jennie too, but I think nomad is right, we don't see the whole picture.
I think it's sad how some parents treat there kids pictures and drawings! I always look at them for ages and when we come home we either hang them up or put them in the "Best Drawings" folder.
And on the way home there are always so many drawings and stuff just lying around outside the school.
I used to pick them up and hand them into the school office but noone ever asked for them (I checked) so I don't anymore.
:):)

I agree with Nomad. I see the name Bobby. The "J" you are seeing is the comma after the word FROM. The "e" is the top of the capital "B".

Bobby could be either named after GrandBob or even a Robert III. Find the boy at a school and find the last name. Most schools are out now, but someone should have a yearbook. ;)

The artist appears to be about 7-8 years old, imo, and would be of school age. (Talented, too!)

Oh Gee Guys I saw this when the thread first went up, then I thought GrandBob had been found and didn't check back. So when I stumbled over it today I was shocked to find out we hadn't found GrandBob. But guess what? GrandBob has been found and all is right in Bobby's world this week!!

There's a picture at the link:

http://www.nj.com/south/index.ssf/2009/06/birthday_card_returned_after_b.html

PILESGROVE TWP. -- Thanks to the compassion of a Woodstown woman, a young child has been given back the homemade card he drew for his grandfather's birthday.
Bobby Woodruff III of Pilesgrove drew his "Grand-Bob" a birthday card for his 72nd birthday in February. However, the card was displaced and Bobby was never able to give the card to his grandfather, Bob Woodruff Sr.

Then three months later, for reasons that are unknown, the card popped back up on North Main Street by the public parking lot.

This is when resident Jennifer Lenik found the card and wanted to return it to its rightful owner.

Lenik contacted Today's Sunbeam about a possible ad in the paper but instead it was decided a story would be the best way to reach out to Bobby and his family.

Bobby was at his cousin's house when his cousin's dad saw the article on the card.
"He said 'Whoa, come over here, did you draw this?,'" said Bobby, who said he was shocked to see his card in the newspaper last Sunday.

Afterward, Lenik was contacted by Bobby's parents, Jennifer and Robert Woodruff Jr. Bobby went along with his father to get his card back.

"Bobby had made this for me before my birthday and I never got it. Somehow for whatever reason months later it just shows up," said Robert Sr.

He added that it was pretty funny because there aren't many Grand-Bobs around.

(I guess GrandBob has never Googled his name!!!)

LOL LOL!! Thank you missmybaby! Love the picture of Bobby and Grandbob holding the elusive birthday card.
I have really enjoyed this thread. Thanks you guys.....nomad :)

Thanks for the update missmybaby!

GrandBob is a pretty young lookin fella for 72! :)

Awwww!! A happy ending!! GrandBob DOES need to google his name!! OMG! LOL All's well that ends well. (sigh) I hope GrandBob frames it along with the article. It is definitely a keeper. ;)

I just now checked back on this story and am glad to see the happy ending.

I really love the picture of the two of them holding the card. You can see how much they love each other. And I agree with others that GrandBob looks way young for his age.

And it's also great that Bobby drew a thank you card for the lady who got the card to them. I know she'll always cherish it. :)

I like the fact that Bobby drew him with dark hair. ;) I bet GrandBob liked it, too. See...beauty really IS in the eye of the beholder. WTG, Bobby!!:clap::clap::clap:

GrandBob what a sweet story. I've seen this sitting in Bizarre news for awhile but never bothered to take the time. Now I wish I had from the beginning. I sure missed out the 'wait' for this great ending. NEWS that makes you smile indeed!

OOOPS meant to say "news that makes you smile" not bizzarre. sorry for error.

Thank you so much for the update missmybaby!

Now that picture says it all. That is what life truly is about! Love.

I look at the way they have their arms wrapped around each other and I know that Bobby is a very blessed child to have Grandbob in his life. I have always said that each child in this world deserves by the right of birth to have an adult in their life who's eyes light up only because that child has walked into the room.

I can imagine it's that way for Bobby, and he is treasured by Grandbob. Sometimes all is right in the world!

You are all most sincerely welcome! :grouphug: It was so wonderful to find a story with a happy ending for a change...

And a truly wonderful picture of Bobby and GrandBob!

Yes Kat, Bobby is so blessed and so is GrandBob. The best part of the story is, I believe they are both aware how special they are to each other. :smoochiesmilie: Imagine a treasure has twice the value when it is valued by twice the people. (Did I word that in such a way it makes sense? or do I need to take a nap and try again later?)

Much happiness to the stranger who facilitated the return of the card. :rose: When you think of the odds of someone picking up what could have been trash and then taking the time to notify the newspaper. She must have someone special in her life, who has made a similar card for her to recognize it's worth. :blowkiss:
