Can any techies clarify for me if Jay's phone was beside him can messages and phone calls be retrieved as evidence even if phone was broken in a fall

And I hope Mark Williams Thomas learns lessons about mouthing off theories that have clearly come from SM and being reported as 'investigations ' in msm it just causes unnecessary pain for already distressed people another poster stated civil guards working away from prying eyes and out of the public spectrum is admirable I agree all these media posts and interviews given by Mark takes time ,Time that could have been spent searching for jay but alas that doesn't earn money or notoriety for him does it

I'm no fan of MWT but the things he's been saying well be true and indirectly causes of Jay being in a position that led to him falling/having an accident and I don't suppose he's hampered the official searches. I agree that he's no friend to the family.

Just a 19 year old out there, making 19 year old choices. Thankful his family will get closure, and hopefully move on to remembering their son for how they knew him, and not just how the media and SM picked him apart.

So it would seem the announcement that they were abandoning the search was something of a ruse by the Spanish police, to enable them to carry on searching without all the media hoo-har.

“The Civil Guard mountain rescue and intervention unit has found, after 29 days of non-stop searching, the body of a young man in the Masca area," it says.

"Given the difficulties of the case, the discovery has been possible thanks to the constant and discreet search carried out by the Civil Guard for the last 29 days during which care was taken to ensure curious onlookers did not fill the area.

Yes! I recall the media saying that Spanish LE were moving their search to another part of the island. Maybe they never?
Well done to all involved in the search for Jay. It literally looked to be like a needle in a haystack although it is just so sad the thought that MAYBE he could have been found in time, given its been said he's been found in the area of his phone. Maybe a more intense search focused on that area would have brought better results but what do I know.

Sad but not unexpected news, at least the family have some closure now and can bury him, many who go missing in Tenerife have never been found

I think the phone was key. I wonder if Jay moved far from the location he sent to friends, or if he stayed put waiting.

I'm just wondering-Is it possible to gain toxicology from remains after this long? I wonder if they will be able to tell if alcohol & drugs played a part as finding out, for example, he fell and cause of death is from a head injury it still does not really explain why he decided to go wandering...maybe we'll never know.

I am not a doctor but the body would be heavily decomposed, especially with a month of being exposed to sun/heat, he will only be able to be formally identified by dental records

The SIM card is unlikely to be broken so they can just put that into another iPhone and transfer all data. It’ll show last calls, texts etc. if they know his snap login they’ll be able to access that too.
Edit - as long as they know his Apple ID and password

Sorry I didn't clarify I meant reporting of rolex ,yachts and the likes without factual evidence thank you for pointing that out I think it's admiralable the commitment he gives but a lot he reports on fuels speculation and rumour in both this case and Nicolas and it caused distress for families already going through hell
