Yes, but I am hesitant to bring up what I think. But here goes.
I know a female who was 18 when I met her. Homeless. Living in a car. Pregnant.
She was adopted as an infant by wealthy parents.
Here is what one of her main complaints was about her incredibly cruel parents. Get ready with Jodi hankies, which never get wet.
Her parents never taught her how to cook, clean, nor do laundry. She had no clue of what to do now that she was going to get an apartment.
She , too, was an exchange student in another country learning Spanish while in high school
I spent time with her, but she was not on my case load. Rather, she was with the co worker and we would do things together with the families we worked with, so I would see her in action.
I won't go into it, but I was fascinated by her lack of human understanding.
I think in her case it was probably an attachment thing at birth. Could be with JA as well. Close in age children. Not enough time to give to JA.
Doesn't matter except that we do know what makes children thrive and we do know what things are harmful. Does not excuse her, but that is why there is information out there on holding your child; do not prop a bottle on a pillow to feed your child; respond to your infant's cries; do not keep them in containers. Car seats, infant seats, play pens, etc.
Other things as well such as reading to your child.
I have to throw these things in because I do not want to see all of the killings, abuse, etc that we see out there.
All humans crave love and validation. All.
