Any idea what registered name Katie will be using so we will know who she is when she posts?

Can't wait to see your posts tonight. I may take a nap during cross just so I can stay up late enough to read the posts, since I am in Eastern time. LOL. But gosh, I would have to miss Juan and I am a Juanette. Guess I will just miss my sleep!

Pleas tell Beth and Jean we are all sorry they lost their jobs. Beth is awesome. I hate reality shows. Our household doesn't watch them. But they could not take over court TV if there wasn't a huge audience for that crap. I think people are losing their minds. JMO, of course.

Which "Beth and Jean" lost their jobs? You're not talking about Beth Karas and Jean Casarez, are you?

Good Monday Morning to everyone, I am newly registered but have been a visiting guest on this site for years and do love Websleuths! I just couldn’t resist an opportunity to post my “ 2 cents worth” on the Arias ”NutCase”. I have enjoyed reading everyone’s post and am glued to this trial. I have spent the weekend mulling over where Juan is going this morning with cross. Jodi was so tongue tied at the very end of the trial last Thursday that I am sure she knows what is coming her way this morning.

Where I stand or in my opinion, Jodi, premeditatedly, killed Travis Alexander in cold blood. Definitely not in self- defense. With regard to motive I feel she killed him because,( besides the fact she is a femme fatale), she was angry, jealous and knew she would never ever have him, but also because- given Jodi’s parasitic nature with all of her past boyfriends- she had to get rid of Travis so that she could continue to insert herself into PPL pool of available men. By the time Travis was murdered he had already figured out what a psycho she was and I don’t believe Jodi wanted Travis to jeopardize her reputation in anyway. PPL was a good resource of available and successful men that Jodi could have used to find her next “victim”, she had already lined up Ryan Burns. Travis had way more friends and associates and was so well regarded by so many that he could have exposed her craziness, and I think he would have warned any available bachelors away from her. Jodi was, and always appears to be, on the Hunt. Besides jealousy and anger and possession , Travis was in the way.

And also in my opinion if I were on the jury, the minute Jodi indicated she blacked out, couldn’t remember the stabbing, and “the next thing I knew I was in the desert” would have decided her guilt for me.

Nice post and welcome to the jury.

Thank you. Have I ever told you that you are wonderful?:blushing:
You are a great advocate for victims and knowing what you have been through gives me even greater respect for you. I can't even imagine!

Thank you. That is very nice for you to say. I do believe my presence in the courtroom has been supportive to Travis family. They have told me that and thanked me. I am not the only homicide victim's family there standing in solidarity with them either. I think there IS strength in numbers and sat far too many days in court alone or my father did in our last hearing. I think having that solid wall of support sitting directly behind them is essential. I sit there literally streaming energy toward them ...it's one of the main reasons I attend.

Anyone who wants to "pregame" for today, here is Detective Flores' phone conversations with the defendant.

Jodi Arias - Police Phone Interviews June 10, 21 (vm) & 25, 2008

Oh That was interesting to hear her tell him that Travis had brown sheets on his bed in describing his place. Yeah she said that! Yet she had not been there in a bit. She talks so much she hangs herself with her own words.

I can't get the other smilies to open ... :seeya: HELLO and WELCOME!!

The THs need to sit down and shut up. Let a Prosecutor handle his case the way he sees fit. The same winning way he has done it for over three decades.

If they are criticizing him now.........just wait:floorlaugh:...........he is going to rachet up the righteous indignation in the coming days as he should. He will be like another male Prosecutor I saw when cross exaimining a female murderer and by the end of this he will be screaming at this just like that Prosecutor did and the Judge ok'd it. No one handles a liar and viscious murderer with kid gloves.

He is not dealing with Mother Teresa............he is cross examining a cold remorseless sociopath. I have a feeling this is not the first one he has had to cross examine over the years. A lot of sociopaths are in prison or death row. Jodi deserves to be on death row and I think Juan is going to put her there.

Go get 'er Juan!

IMO

First about the TH's. AZlawyer has said that some people she knows have been told what side they'll be on when they go on shows. I believe her not just because she's honest, but because it makes sense too. If all of your guests agree then it doesn't make for good TV. Also, you want the JA defenders to tune in also.

As for treating a murderess with kid gloves I think he should. My reasoning is that she has an answer for a lot of things. Most of them not good. Her answer about being flustered when men yell at her like JM and TA wasn't great, but it was good.

There is no one tried and true way to cross examine every witness. JM was hoping that by becoming argumentative and loud she might do so as well. JMO. That didn't work and may have given her some sympathy by some of the jurors.

I think the best way to get under her skin is to just ask questions and let her answer them and then keep harping on the inconsistencies. Once she answers the question go after her calmly.

One exchange from Friday went (approx.) like this.

JM: How could you have called Travis if it wasn't by your cell phone?

JA: Some of the places I lived at had land lines.

JM: I didn't ask you if some of the places you lived at had land lines. When you were living at such and such you didn't have a land line isn't that correct.

JA: Yes, I didn't have a landline.

This is Monday morning quarterbacking, but I would have started out by saying. "I'd just like to say Miss Arias that your ability to recall is amazing. It's better than mine. I couldn't tell anyone what the price of gas was a month ago let alone four years ago."

The exchange I just wrote about would have been handled this way by me the non lawyer doing some Monday morning quarterbacking.

JM: It would have been impossible to call him from a land line because you didn't have one did you?

JA: (probably) Yes, I didn't have a landline there. (Or) I forgot I didn't have a landline there.

I think by being argumentative and constantly telling her that, that's not what you asked makes her feel like she's winning and will remain calm. If you call her out immediately on her lies or "gaps in memory" it will frushtrate her more and more. JMO

Welcome!!! Excellent first post!!!

I haven't seen where she spoke about it...she was the host on Friday. She told us all that in person then said to Katie ddj and Anita "make me proud girls" as she'd missed her chance to be on dd while having dinner.
She left saying "I'm hosting in session tomorrow. I may interview myself!" Lol. She has strong opposing opinions re how JM did Thursday compared to some of her colleagues. She totally got his strategy and called it "brilliant"

I think that it would be great if they had Beth do some of these trials because she is well respected and objective in her observations. What would be great is if she had guests on who were in the gallery and gave their opinions. I just know that these trials are important for the public to view so we can see the warning signs when dealing with people like this.

Most of us know, or have met someone who is a sociopath because they are everywhere but it's helpful to know what the warning signs are that would send them over the edge. jmo

Thank you all for the Welcomes to Websleuths. I am happy to be here and think you guys are great!!

So far we have whatsupaz there right now, az lawyer and me going this afternoon, Katieddj will be there all day and two more posters are going but I'll let them mention themselves..keep checking the observer thread. You might get some juicy updates throughout the day.

BBM: Not sure he could have said that without an objection. Plus JM saying his memory is not a good as her's and then asking about her memory problems does not make him look confident. Plus HE would have been lying. I bet he remembers every little, last detail from 5 years ago.

I also think it's fairly common for murders of this type to be done by a sociopath. He knows how to handle them, IMI. That testimony would have rattled me and I would have been crying. She didn't bat an eye and at some point was enjoying herself. That's the sociopath in her. He did a good job of exposing her. jmo

Good morning, folks! I have tried to keep up over the weekend, but wanted to step away a little bit. After Thursday, my brain was just overwhelmed with JA's carp and attitude, which was overshadowing (in my mind) the whole reason we're here - for Travis. So, I'm refreshed and ready to see and hear what Mr. Juanderful has in store for her today.

I hope she and her attorneys took some speed reading classes over the long weekend. Good grief!

And thank you for what you are doing for us, here at WS. You are such a sweet and gentle soul. Please tell Travis's family, that we are pulling for them with our hearts. :blowkiss:

I stepped away too, My own ordeal is still, too fresh. But I keep remembering how the members were here for me! :)

I don't think she killed Travis in atonement for his sins, or that his killing had any symbolic relationship to Mormonism. She hadn't been a member of the church very long, she joined almost immediately after meeting Travis, and she never took the religion seriously, imo.

She couldn't have him, he rejected her so he had to die.
IMO

The reason I felt the temple ritual killing pantomimes might be a factor was because in her testimony she used the phrase "deep" faith or knowledge which is not given to new members, but is information that they learn later. Why would he be telling her this without telling her what they were?

Also, remember that she sent warnings to other women using religious lingo like "do not lie with Travis..." She also claimed they had many discussions involving religion. I don't for a minute believe she is a true believer in Mormonism, rather she used the knowledge to taunt Travis once he told her he was through with her.

Especially if he told her he was going to go to the bishop.

If Travis had told her what was taught in the temple, he would have to have the "penalty" for revealing that information or he could not go to the Celestial Kingdom. She would say, for example, "You know you have to shed your own blood for what you've done, don't you? I'm actually helping you repent!"

Somebody asked for a link - I posted a Christian one with more information on the thread "sequence of events." Many of you may already be familiar with the Lafferty case where a young mother and her eighteen month old daughter had their throats slit. The motive for the murder was entirely different, but the means of death strictly followed the temple instructions.

The murderer does this so that he/she may have "clean hands" in that they helped a guilty person atone with their own blood.

Here is a link to the photos in sequence. Look at the one where his head is down and he is standing -- I believe you can see blood on the shower wall. I also noticed blood pooling in the reddish area where he is reclining in the shower just before the camera falls. This is the first photo where the door is open. This is when he may have said he couldn't feel his legs because he may have been in shock or suffering from blood loss at that point. He may then have lunged at her, coming in low like she said, screaming and saying he would kill her.

She would have been jacked up on adrenaline and been extremely savage in her attack, some of the head wounds breaking bone. The wounds on his back are all at the correct angle for this position, him having his head in her stomach and pushing her back, down the hall and this is where her palm print appears on the wall. It also explains the bloody brush marks on the wall.

She shoves him off, stabs him again in the chest and tries to disembowel him. He curls up and tries to crawl away making horrible cries of agony. She's afraid someone will hear so she straddles him and cuts his throat using far too much force. She drags him back to the bathroom and--unbelievably--as she struggles to get him into the shower, he is still making noises and...looking at her. Now her adrenaline is going down and he is creeping her out. The pleasure is gone. SHe has to move him and the horrible sounds of death and those eyes are too much--she goes and gets the gun, wraps the pillow around it to muffle the noise and shoots him from a standing position, his head propped on the edge of the shower, angle correct.

I have to add that it was days before I could view the photos in this case without becoming lightheaded. My heart goes out to Travis' family whose lives she has also taken.

Thanks for all you do here to solve crimes, find the missing, and support victims.

Good morning all... I'm so nervous and excited today!!(Because we actually have WSers in the courtroom) I have butterflies. Is this normal? haha Waiting is the hardest part. I've never been a very patient person. Continued prayers for The Alexander family. I don't know how they sit there as calm as they do. I have a hard time keeping up with the posts when trial is in session. I'd like to thank everyone for their great insight! Thanks to our "Juanettes" who will be in the court room this week. Your views and descriptions are very appreciated!!!

With our blizzard in full effect... my biggest fear is that we will lose electricity... Praying that we dont.
