JD explaining why he is suing:

the news of her accusations had permeated the industry and made it's way thro media and social media and it became quite a global, lets say, quote end quote "fact"

"We call John C. Depp." He says "6 years ago, Ms. Heard made heinous allegations against me... nothing of the kind had ever happened... there were arguments." He says he never struck Ms. Heard and he has never struck a woman in his life
.......
Depp says he is doing this because these claims permeated the industry and the media and social media. His children had to go to school and read about their father. It was untrue.
.......
Johnny Depp: My goal is the truth. It killed me.. that people would think I was a fraud and that I had lied to them. I had to wait for my opportunity to address the charges, which were criminal charges. And they just weren't true. I felt the responsibility of clearing the record.
.......

Depp: I had a very interesting childhood that I thought was normal until I was a certain age. I was born in Kentucky but we moved a lot. I was always the new kid. We moved to south Florida when I was 7 or 8.
.......
Depp: My mother was quite unpredictable. She was a.. she had the ability to be as cruel as anyone could be with all of us, that is to say my sister Christi, my bro Danny and my sister Debbie and my father.

how mother was cruel:

physical violence of course, physical abuse - that was a constant
we were all somewhat shellshocked even if she walked past you would shield yourself because you didn't know what would happen. so the physical abuse which was a constant
quite a lot of verbal abuse, name calling, bullying, making fun of whatever defect one might have. my brother wore glasses so he was four eyes . . .

Amber Heard looks right at Johnny Depp as he testifies that he has never struck her.

Depp: My mother was quite violent which could be in the form of an ashtray being thrown at your head or a telephone or whatever was handy. In our house, we were never exposed to any type of safety or security
.......
Depp: The only thing one could do was to try to stay out of the line of fire. I could start to see when she was about to head into a situation where she was going to get riled up and somebody was going to get it and generally it was me
.......
Depp describing how his mother could be cruel: There's physical violence, of course, to which... that was just a constant. We were all somewhat shellshocked. She'd walk past and you'd shield yourself b/c you didn't know what was going to happen.

Angenette Levy @Angenette5

Depp: My father's family was quite refined my mother was from Eastern Kentucky where they lived in shacks and hollers. Recalling how his mom called him "one eye" b/c of the patch on his lazy eye. Called him "cockeyed." He's legally blind in one eye.
.......
Depp: the psychological, emotional abuse was worse than the beatings... My father is a very kind man, a very kind man. He's shy. Not a confrontational person at all. When mom (Betty Sue) would go on a tangent to dad, and of course in front of kids was no matter.

Angenette Levy @Angenette5

Depp: Dad stood there and took the abuse from mom. There was never a moment when my father lost control and attacked my mother or even said a bad thing to my mother. There were a couple of times when it go too far, I could see his eyes welling up (cont)
.......
Depp: The most he could do... he once punched a wall. It wasn't dry wall. It was concrete and rebar. Dad never touched mom. He remained a gentleman. As a 5-year-old boy, I kept wondering "why does he take it? How does he take it?"
.......
Depp: He never left her. He was able to maintain his relationship with his children. He was a good man. He is a good man.

Angenette Levy @Angenette5

Depp says his father was never abusive to him or his siblings. At the same time, my father was, to some degree, at the mercy of Betty Sue. If he argued with what she wanted done, it would turn into another barrage of hatred toward him.
.......
Depp: If I got in trouble at school, the first thing mom would say was "John, take him out there. He gets the belt." So he'd take me to the garage and I'll never forget, this white, thick leather white belt that he would take off and he would inflict punishment.

Angenette Levy @Angenette5

Depp: One time I swore to dad I hadn't done what Mom said and then dad found out I hadn't done it and he apologized to me. Mom never did that. I had no power to change what was inside of her.
.......
Depp says he was 15 and had dropped out of school. Was playing in bands. Dad left for work. Mom came home from work and looked around and she said "your dad is gone." Depp followed mom to closet and dad's belongings were gone.
.......
Depp said he went to his dad's work and said "looks like someone stole out of your clothes." Dad said "Yes. I'm done. You're the man now."

Angenette Levy @Angenette5

Depp now recalling his mom collapsing when she tried to take her own life. She went into a deep depression. She got down to 70 lbs. At the time, he thought his dad had left in cowardice until they had a talk years later (cont).
