The current Seattlepi story says that the social worker was a contract worker, not a state employee. She worked for a private company that was contracted (outsourced) by the state to do these supervisions. It sure would be interesting to learn more about how DFS assigns cases, how people are trained and paid, what their caseloads are, and what high-risk situations they might be being put into. Also why WA state - and any state - allows these kinds of visitations at a home. Is this all about cost-cutting? Because a cop to protect a social worker, or visitations at a DFS facility, would be too costly?
I can't get past the fact that those babies felt the burn. Their daddy literally set them on fire. Was there an ounce of humanity or selflessness in him? How can anyone burn up their babies?
I dont think a social worker or anyone could have prevented this other than throwing him in jail. He could have showed up at the Cox home and took them out too.
I just say that that is too little too late.
I immediately started wondering why they would assign a woman, all by herself (private contractor or not) to supervise the visits between a man- who is suspected of MURDERING his wife- and his two children. What sort of contingency plans were in place here? Doesn't look like emergencies had been planned for. The state of WA, IMO, set this woman up to fail, probably to save a couple of pennies. Now we have dead children and ZERO answers to a 2 year old murder mystery. Was it worth it? I am disgusted.

That is information that couldn't be released before due to the ongoing investigation. What they're saying is that now they hope to let the public know what they knew.
If it offers any comfort at all I believe from looking at the house it was very quick with a powerful explosion. I take comfort through my tears that if they felt any pain its my belief they dont remember the pain, only the loving comfort of being in their mothers arms once again.l
This hurts; I have nothing but love for Mr. and Mrs. Cox, may they somehow find moments of Peace in this life and be united with their loved ones in the next.
Graves said they got confirmation of the fatal explosion from Chuck Cox, who went to Joshs home and observed it on fire.

I think it will be frustrating to find out, for example that they had quite a bit of evidence, but could not get an arrest warrant...I almost hope they don't have much to do on, besides the obvious suspicions, or else it will seem to me that they left it too long...JMO
