Joshua Seagraves, a young man with a complicated past, was released from prison on October 5, 2023, after serving time for previous mistakes. He was determined to rebuild his life and reconcile with his ex-girlfriend, Dana. Despite their tumultuous relationship, Joshua hoped to rekindle their romance and stay sober with her support.
However, their reunion was short-lived. On October 7th, Dana accused Joshua of getting high, and he was kicked out of her apartment. The next few days were marked by heated arguments and escalating tensions between the two.
On October 14th, Dana sent a disturbing message to Joshua's mom, claiming he had threatened to kill her. This was the last time anyone heard from Joshua. His disappearance was shrouded in mystery, and his family was left with only unanswered questions.
As the investigation unfolded, inconsistencies and lies emerged from the sheriff's office and Dana's accounts.. The sheriff's office claimed that Joshua's body was found in a sealed and vented crawlspace, reports of a maintenance worker discovering his remains due to a foul odor. Contrary to the later press release that stated the maintenance worker was working in the apartment for a number of days before he opened the crawlspace and that's when the smell became apparent.
Joshua's family was met with resistance and hostility when seeking answers. The sheriff and detective refused to acknowledge crucial evidence, including a suspicious message from Dana and inconsistencies in her alibi. Public records requests were denied or redacted, further fueling the family's suspicions of a cover-up.
The family believes that Dana and others involved in Joshua's death are being protected by the authorities. They point to the sheriff's office's mishandling of the investigation, the delayed and contradictory reports, and the lack of transparency throughout the process.
