An 8-year-old is in the hospital Friday after leaving an alleged abusive situation and seeking help from a stranger.
A woman says she answered loud banging on her door Thursday evening to find a young child, covered in bruises.
The woman tells WSAZ she allowed the girl inside her home, called 911, and when the man and woman the child claimed caused the injuries came knocking – she did not answer the door.

Both were taken to the Boyd County Detention Center. Their bonds were set at $100,000 each.

A 9-year-old girl told officers Thursday evening her mother, Kayla Frazier, 31, and stepdad, Austin Frazier, 27, had beaten her with a metal pipe, taken her hand and placed it on the stove, and struck her in the head with an object.

“APD Detectives arrived and conducted interviews where information was garnered that would show a substantial history of physical child abuse,” police wrote in the release. “Patrol Officers and Detectives on scene executed a search warrant and were able to collect critical evidence which corroborates facts gathered previously.”

The paper also reported that doctors discovered the victim had “several broken bones in various stages of healing,” which is a telltale sign of long-term physical abuse, per WCHS.

poor thing, lucky she made a break for it and found help. We all know how things things end if allowed to continue - she'd eventually have been dead, likely "disappeared" and later reported as a "missing" child by her parents.
