"You're expecting to go catch some small mouth bass and enjoy the river, and then all of a sudden*you come up on something like that,” said Bruton.

"We’ve got a lot of questions that we've got to try to answer,” said Trooper B.J. Eaton with Kentucky State Police.

Trooper Eaton says the only thing that is certain is that this is a homicide, but the identity of the victim remains unclear.

State Police will examine missing persons cases out of Hart County and surrounding areas, as detectives search for clues.


Wish it would be reported if male or female since autopsy was done yesterday.
No new details being released yet makes me wonder if police have already identified the body and are already after someone?

My guesses are that perhaps they are looking into contacting family before releasing info??

It's possible there wasn't enough body to make an identification. Sorry to be blunt. But, if that were the case, I would imagine there would be ongoing LE activity on the river in search of anything missing.

While with several other fishermen, Bruton came across an unusual tote bag that he says was “on the edge of the river” about a quarter-mile from the boat ramp at H.H. Wilson Park in Hart County.

So it was a tote bag and not a container. I was thinking it was a plastic tub.

"Tote bag" makes me think child. May not be reported 'missing'.

Jacob Tipton, age 25, went missing from Madison Co., KY in April of this year. His truck was discovered abandoned in Hart Co., KY. I think this could be a possibility.

Robert Jones and Crystal Warner are also missing. Witnesses say they were shot in Springfield on July 3rd. The suspect took their bodies and left to dispose of them. He has been arrested, but won't disclose where their bodies are. He drove their car to Georgetown and left it where it was later discovered. Green River would be a large detour from Springfield to eventually Georgetown. Plus, I wouldn't think two bodies would fit in a plastic tote, so there would need to be another one (or it was disposed of separately). Here is a link to their thread.

“She went to the grocery store to pick up some sodas, and she never returned home,” said Roarx’s uncle, Joey Price.

Though Roarx’s home is in Grayson County, investigators say her van was found abandoned some 70 miles away, outside of Shepherdsville in Bullitt County.

Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins calls the disappearance “suspicious,” and says foul play is suspected.

On Saturday, when Roarx’s relatives learned a dismembered body had been found in a tote bag in the Green River, Price says they felt a mix of emotions.

“Somebody just vanishes in the blink of an eye, and they’re gone, and you don’t know where they’re at," Price said. “It brings back that hurt because you want to know is it your loved one? You hope it ain't, but then you wonder if it is. Can you get that closure that you're looking for?”

I don't think that these remains are the missing couple, Melvia Roarx, Crystal Rogers or anyone that would show up on a Missing Persons website.

Why? It's just been too hot. I read that a man that lives in Lexington died in his non-airconditioned home a couple days ago. He was unrecognizable and they are using fingerprints to officially ID him. After that short of a time.
The fact that the man that discovered the remains refers to a "hand" makes me think that this is a VERY fresh body.

FWIW, I don't see one MSM story about Jacob (???) but what there is to read makes it seem more likely to be suicide in his case, sadly...

Authorities have identified a body found in the Green River in Hart County on Saturday morning.

According to a news release from Kentucky State Police, that body has been identified as 22-year-old Kristen Edwards of Barren County, Ky.

Munfordville, KY (July 26, 2016) - Through investigation it has been determined that the body found in the Green River in Hart County on July 23, 2016 has been identified as 22 year old female Kristen Edwards of Barren County.

This investigation is still ongoing and being conducted as a Murder, and for that reason, no other details can be released at this time.

Anyone with information in reference to this case or Ms. Edwards is asked to please call the Kentucky State Police at (270)782-2010.

That person was released on 4/15/2016.

I cannot confirm that person is the deceased, but the name, age and county are a match.

She may not have been known to be a missing person. I am seeing quite a few personal Facebook posts about her now. Nothing about her having been missing though.
