Kandi Gonzalez - Disappeared

UPDATED JANUARY 31, 2022; POSTED JANUARY 31, 2022

36-year-old Kandi Gonzalez was last seen in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on June 1, 2021. Gonzalez disappeared after wandering into the backyard of a property on Abbott Creek Road, in a visibly distressed and disoriented state, before running away into a creek.

Kandi Green Gonzalez, of Paintsville, Kentucky, was born in December 1984 to parents Betty Jo and David Dixon.

In 2009, Gonzalez graduated from Lexington Healing Arts Academy in Lexington, Kentucky with a Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork certification. In 2011, she graduated from Spencerian College with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.

At the time of her disappearance, Gonzalez worked as a self employed Licensed Massage Therapist. She lived with her boyfriend of two years, Jeff Blackburn, in a house in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.

On the afternoon of June 1, 2021, Gonzalez was thrown out by her boyfriend of two years, Jeff Blackburn, from the house they shared together.

Gonzalez subsequently wandered into the backyard of a property on Abbott Creek Road, less than half a mile from her own home. She was recorded by someone on the property, pleading for help and asking people to call her mother, in a visibly distressed and disoriented state.

When the calls made to her mother’s phone went directly to voicemail, Gonzalez walked back and forth before eventually running through the backyard and into a creek.

Gonzalez’s shoes were found by her family in a nearby creek after her disappearance.

Authorities conducted searches in the creek area where she was last seen, using helicopters, drones, tracking and cadaver dogs, but found no signs of Kandi Green Gonzalez’s whereabouts.

Police found no evidence, means or motive for foul play in Kandi Green Gonzalez’s disappearance. The case is still ongoing but there’s currently no promising leads.

There is so much more info out there, but it's all on social media and private accounts f.i. from her brother and her cousin, advocating for her. Info that is not on

According to him he and a cousin traced Kandi's steps to a certain point, in the days after her disappearance, and they made a map/picture of it. It's out there. Sadly I can't bring it over.

I noticed there are a few sex offenders living in the vicinity of where she went missing and wondered around. I wonder if LE checked them and there properties out. Maybe one of them picked her up from the road she seems to have come back to.

I'm wondering what caused her boyfriend to kick her out of the house? Is it related to her fear? She appeared to be terrified that something or someone was following her. Did it catch up to her at the road where LE lost her trail? Did someone slip her some hallucinating drugs that caused her panic?

It's already almost a year since Kandi went missing....where the heck is this woman? (and the others)

There is a Sheriff's election coming up. Hopefully he/she will take the investigation in new directions.
