"MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police are investigating after a woman's body was found near the Kentucky River.

"The Kentucky State Police Richmond post was contacted at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday night," Trooper Robert Purdy said. Police blocked off the area for several hours near the Old Clays Ferry Bridge on Old Richmond Road on the Fayette and Madison County lines on Interstate 75.

"The detectives and investigators were trying to go through everything, making sure that they didn’t miss any evidence," Purdy said. Police say the body of an unidentified female has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy and identification.

The Madison County Coroner has not released information on the state of the body but says foul play is expected."

"Right now, I've got nothing at all. The body is still in Frankfort at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort," Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said on Monday. "They're going to try and fingerprint and hopefully make some connections."

While Cornelison has said foul play is expected, he couldn't release any further information.

SECOND UPDATE: Body found, police seek assistance

I wonder if this is the same April Arnett (this entry starts half way down the page):
"March 19, 2019.
Berea police arrested April Arnett, 38, Eureka Springs Drive, Berea, Monday on a Fayette County warrant that charges her with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. They also arrested Ryan Crawley, 34, Sadieville, on several warrants, including receiving stolen property (less than $10,000) and violation of a Kentucky domestic violence order.

According to the warrants, on March 11, Lexington police were called to Eureka Springs where a person reported property that was stolen from them was found. The victim told Crawley he had the stolen items and would give them back, and Crawley invited the victim inside the residence.

Crawley then produced one of the victim's stolen boxes that was supposed to contain a hover board, and Crawley pulled out a small handgun to intimidate the victim, the warrants state. Crawley escorted the victim out of the residence and asked Arnett if she still had the other pistol. The victim heard Arnett say yes, the warrants state.

Arnett's warrant states her response is self admission to her possessing a handgun. Police learned she's a convicted felon."

CRIME REPORT: Police: Man arrested for having drugs

Can anyone verify this and find out more about her criminal history?

Troopers say April Arnett, 39, of Lexington was found Saturday night.

The Madison County coroner suspects foul play in the case of Arnett's death, but troopers haven't revealed a cause of death.

My link doesn't really have anything that isn't here already, but I wanted people to look at the comments at the end of the story. This is disgraceful. I cannot believe that society has gotten to a place where it just threw civility out the window and doesn't care to get it back.

The girl got mixed up in dope. I couldn't find any of her criminal records where she'd actually done anything bad (stealing or assault, etc) to another person. If she did, it was before 2016 and that's a while back. She got in trouble for possessing a gun, not shooting it at anyone. It was likely for protection due to the circle of people she ran with. She did and dealt drugs (probably meth). Yet there are so many out there besides people commenting anonymously that have a pompous "She was asking for it" attitude. They'd probably give her killer a high-5 for "cleaning up the country" rather than see to it that April gets justice for being killed.

The fact that she was an addict/pusher just makes it so much harder to find who killed her. Do you know how many people in rural Kentucky are into drugs? Way more than anyone could ever hope to count.

And the "Contempt of Court / Libel /..." is basically a catch all that could mean anything. Like she answered the standard "2 beers" when asked if she'd been drinking or smarting off to the officer that was arresting her.

The pics I've seen of her shared by a mutual friend are completely different than her mugshots. It's sad how bad she looks in those compared to how she was in happier times.

Does it really matter what she had or had not done in life? She left behind three beautiful children. Can you imagine yourself reading a post like this about your children? Please don't say "my child would never do this or that" unless you watch them 24/7 their entire lives.

There has been an arrest made. Charges are abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence. Ryan T. Crawley Someday her parents will have closure and she can at last rest in peace.

Second arrest has been made. As I said from the beginning.....you can run, you can hide but eventually they will find you. No, dyeing your beard did not shield you enough.

Has anyone seen any updates on this case?
Not recently, though this was from Dec. 2019:
Police say Ryan "Todd" Crawley was involved with dumping the body of 39-year-old April Arnett of Lexington near the old Clays Ferry Bridge in August.

He was indicted on Nov. 6.

Investigators say Ronald "Doug" Crawley was arrested in Cave Junction, Oregon, in connection to Arnett's death. He's facing the same charges.
