Family Boosts Reward For Information On Missing Knott Co. Woman

More than three and a half years ago, Natasha Jones left a note under her oldest son’s pillow saying that she’d be back in a couple of days.

Her family hasn’t seen or heard from her since.

The last time her grandmother Ola Chaffins saw Jones, she was walking down her driveway. Jones would be 35-years-old now. Her grandmother and her two children are just some of the people who want to know what happened to Jones.

“FISTY, Ky. (WYMT) - On May 7th, 2015 Natasha Fugate went missing from her home in the Fisty Community of Knott County.

Fugate left behind her family, which includes her two sons.

Ola Chaffins is Fugate's grandmother and describes the past four years in two words.

‘Pure hell,’ said Chaffins.

Chaffins still fights back tears when talking about her granddaughter.

‘You hope and pray that it's not but on the other hand you want closure. It's just, I don't know how to describe it,’ said Chaffins.

On Sunday remains were found in the Wabaco community of Perry County. When news like this arrives Fugate's family, along with families of other people missing from the area, holds out hope it may bring an end to their long-running nightmare.

There is still a $15,000 reward for information leading to Fugate or who may be involved in her disappearance. Anyone with information is asked to call Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard at (606) 435-6069.“

That’s a chunk of money. I’m surprised no one has talked in 4 years.

“PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT)- Updated, Nov. 21

Thursday, we learned the bones discovered in Perry County during the weekend were sent to the University of Tennessee for identification.

Though the entire skeleton was found, it could take months for identification. The Perry County coroner gave WYMT the following statement:

‘Until further inspection by the anthropologist at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, we cannot scientifically confirm the sex of the remains until a full report has been released from the University of Tennessee.’

‘It’s just been a nightmare for six years’: Family still waiting on answers for missing Knott County woman (wymt.com)

Before Natasha left she wrote a note for her two boys, telling them she was going to find a place for them to stay.

“She told them that she loved them and that she’d been gone for a few days, but she would be back and of course she’s not been back yet,” said Chaffins.

Chaffins said at first she did not worry about Natasha as it was not unusual for her to leave for a few days but she always came back.

“Then I started looking for her clothes, and her clothes were gone and then Hunter found the note, and that was when we went to the police,” said Chaffins.

Phone calls to the police poured in but all the tips brought no answers.

“I don’t know if it’s people trying to get something started or give us false hope I don’t know, but none of them panned out to be true,” said Chaffins. “I know who she was with when she left. I know that, and that’s all we know. Somebody knows where she’s at and what happened to her.”

The guy was taken to London Kentucky to be tested and failed it there. The guy was tested not long after Natasha went missing. I wonder if they tested the friend who picked her up too?
