Paige Johnson flier distribution spotty.
This is meant to be no disrespect to the volunteers that have done a great job and a lot of hard work to distribute flyers. I suspect this is a common problem in almost all cases, not just with Paige Johnsons case. This is meant as constructive criticism, so I hope its taken that way. I dont want to discourage or disrespect the wonderful volunteers that are helping with the flyers.
Though it seems like there was a Herculean effort to distribute flyers in the immediate location that Paige Johnson disappeared, it seems that much of the greater Cincinnati area is not covered.
Ive been looking for Paige Johnson flyers when I go to the store, regrettably I havent been seeing them. I was somewhat surprised and appalled because Paige Johnson disappeared several months ago, the stores I frequent are about 20 miles from where Paige Johnson disappeared and are roughly on the trajectory from the disappearance scene, East Fork, and Spring Valley. Spring Valley was allegedly one of the haunts of JB. So in my opinion this whole region and pathway should have Paige Johnsons flyers on the bulletin boards of cooperating retailers.
There were many missing children posted on the bulletin boards; but most or all of them were from much older cases and from very far away. I thought it was a shame that a relatively recent relatively local girl like Paige Johnson wasnt posted on the bulletin boards.
So I printed up a flier and made some copies, and now when I go to a store that has a bulletin board I post the Paige Johnson flier.
So I would suggest if you live in the greater Cincinnati area that you check all the retailers that you visit that have bulletin boards and make sure that they have Paige Johnsons flyer posted.
The Walmart I posted my first flier at, had a locked display case. I simply politely asked management to post the flyer and they were quite prompt and eager to do so. Though they may have been on particularly good behavior because I had cameras and was documenting it. I didnt want to just leave the flyer with the management, as I wanted to see them open the case and physically post the flyer to make sure that it wasnt forgotten. They were kind enough to oblige.
I would suggest periodically checking the bulletin boards to make sure that the flyers stay up and repost as necessary while the Paige Johnson case is still lukewarm. The other retailers that Ive been to that dont have locked display cases, the flyers are missing almost every time I revisit the stores.
Perhaps there should be some sort of system to try to ensure that every cooperating retailer has a flyer posted and is periodically inspected in the greater Cincinnati area. Perhaps a network of volunteers could periodically check a few stores each, in an assigned region.
Though I live about 20 miles away from where Paige Johnson disappeared, the vast majority of people that I have asked, have no clue who she is or what she looks like. When I show people the flyer and described the case, some of them start vaguely remembering the story.
