Judge Clause was in the small courtroom with Lavergne, his defense attorneys and the prosecuting attorneys. Mickey Shunick's family watched via video from the parish courthouse across the street. I was in the courthouse watching on video with the family. I couldn't see his hands or anything good enough to see wounds or scars, unfortunately! The news media got the major runaround from the jailers and courthouse personnel. We almost missed the arraignment. The jailers wouldn't let us in the courtroom where Lavergne was and the courthouse people wouldn't let us in the video room with the family! I've never seen anything like it!!!
The courtroom chosen is attached to the jail where Lavergne is being held.
The decision was made, in part, due to security issues according to Clause.
It made sense because of security problems and all, he said. Its the most secure courtroom that we have.
I am from Church Point. I lived in CP for 25 years. I was born and raised in CP. Attended elem school {OLSHS} and attended High school {CPHS}. I left CP at the age of 25. I still have family, brothers and sisters as well as children that live in CP and the surrounding area {Opelousas, Eunice}. My guess is that MS is between Lafayette and Swords and since BSL is from CP most likely she will be found between CP and Swords. Just so much farm land to cover, rice fields, soybeans, sugarcane, crawfish, corn etc. she could be anywheres. Not to mention the bayous, woods, pits and lakes..... Heck I know I could hide someone and they never would be found. However, he did it in a hurry, I assume. I just wonder how much advance preperation he had. jmho
I never thought about crawfish farms. I had to google and they're similar to catfish farms like we have around here. I guess he literally could have put her about anywhere if he had planned it out and had a hole dug already.
/I just read my post and it sounded awful blunt to me. Didn't mean it that way at all.

Wearing an orange jumpsuit, his hands in cuffs, Brandon Scott Lavergne uttered only two words not guilty during his arraignment this morning on two charges of first-degree murder.
Family and friends of one of his alleged victims Michaela Mickey Shunick sat silently watching the proceedings from a video hook-up at the parish courthouse.

I never for a moment thought he'd plead guilty. So no surprises today. Once it was official, however, a whole new wave of ire and disgust washed over me.

Family members silently left the courthouse, escorted by Lafayette Parish Sheriffs deputies, immediately afterward.
Josh Coen, who has assisted in volunteer efforts to find Shunick, spoke for the Shunick family outside of the courthouse.
Coen said the family is holding up better than he would be if he were in the same position.
There some of the strongest people Ive ever met, Coen said.

"Shunick was last seen on May 19 where surveillance video places her riding her bicycle just before 2 a.m. past City Hall on St. Landry St. in Lafayette. The video also shows a white pickup truck, later identified as belonging to Lavergne, drove past City Hall shortly after Shunick."

Wow. They just plagiarized my Daily Advertiser story; stole quotes directly from my interview with Judge Clause and did not attribute it to me or my newspaper. Hmmmmmm.
I doubt he had it planned out and had a hole dug already. That sounds like lots of work, could be found before needed, etc. IMO. I have always wondered if he planned on keeping her awhile. Then things got out of hand.

kkdj, BSL did plan to keep her hostage for 2 to 4 days, imo.. BSL, knew that his unexplained injuries would raise suspicions.
