I didn't read the article that stated that it was a throw away phone.
Imo, lots of regular people use pay as you go phones, if that is what
they are talking about. Maybe someone can clarify that for me.
In my suspicious mind, I believe MS/TS could have been thinking ahead.
Maybe thinking let's buy a phone, call JL's phone, now there is
a mystery person/phone call that will be very difficult to trace.
Defense could use that to create reasonable doubt.
Of course, I am jumping to dramatic conclusions, I read too
many mystery novels, lol.

I posted a comment on ABC Final Witness website under the Graveyard Love comment section asking them why they haven't turned over the footage. I think public pressure and exposure might have an influence on them. It's a small step and not very visible but doing what i can...
I'm gonna stew about it a little while... I may contact the director of that episode, there may perhaps be a good reason...
If LE really wants it they will get it.

Sadly they may not have paid any attn to "another stripper" form Bourbon Street dead... Like we have... They probably don't know HM was possibly killed to.
I would think if they did they'd be all over it.

People who use those phones usually fall into one or more of these categories:

They're up to no good
They have awful credit
They have no credit card

Time and time again I hear people in the quarter talking about how they need more minutes on their phone. Burner phones will continue to keep their place in society.

I'll see what the word is about this mysterious number later on at the memorial.

Thanks MemoryFoam. Glad to see that you're still around!
I actually used one for a while, but I fall into one
of your categories. Ex ruined my credit.
Just say NO to additional cards for boy/girlfriends, lol!
Is it a memorial for Jaren?
Please keep us updated!

They are not releasing it simply because the subpoena is not from NY, so the DA involved here has to contact the DA there and convince them to get the subpoena the film company. Basically, NY does not honor out of state subpoenas.

Incredible that Final Witness is not turning over the footage. Maybe they think the footage will be worth more using it to make another show from it and profit from it? Nice move there, helping to protect a killer and profiting off of a murder victim for money and ratings.

You can go to this link and post a comment that the footage needs to be released. I think bombarding the site might help get the point across. Someone has already made 1 comment but there is power in numbers so let's get some comments going there.

As for a memorial for Jaren. I believe there is a cross on the beach in Mississippi. Jaren's friends are thinking about going there on her birthday to put balloons and flowers there. I saw this sandcastle (see attached pic) and thought something like this would be a pretty memorial on the beach as well. I love that you can put candles in the windows.

Makes perfect sense but this is a murder investigation and they should be more than willing to turn over the footage without a subpoena at all IMO!!! I'm sure that there has to be lawyers, procedure and red tape involved though which is the sad state that our world has become.

Tommy Longo hasn't been mayor for several years - article is old. No way it's 12,000 ft long - it's approx 1000 ft over water. Area isn't as secluded as many other places on Waveland coast. People fish there most nights. I would say that it would be unusual for the pier to be completely empty. But, when you're night fishing, you usually have a cooler that you're dragging/rolling to end of pier. At the end are the "shark fishermen". Often people are dumping large fish they've caught back into the Gulf so if no one is else there, it would be easy and not usual to drop contents of cooler off the end. We've seen some very large stingrays (10+ ft) under the lights - pier is lit for night fishing, attracting the fish to area.

Everyone talking about dropping contents off beaches in the area, especially around Long Beach and the Pass - it's just not feasible. Beaches are wide in Waveland and BSL and even wider in the Pass and LB. You would have to walk out 40-50 yards in Waveland and at night, you'd walk forever to even get to water above your ankles. That's why people are out floundering most nights.

Much more likely that Jaren was dropped off end of G-L Pier, concrete pier in Clermont Harbor (think it's called Am. Legion Pier), around Silver Slipper or back by Bordages (Lakeshore). Or, around marsh areas by piers and across from Bucaneer Park (or back part of Bucaneer which has water that eads out to Gulf).

There's also area where Beach Blvd ends by Hollywood Casino. So many secluded areas but beaches aren't a possibility - no water close by at night and too much activity during the day.

Thank you for your comments. This does help!

There is a big difference from 12,000 to 1200 feet! But, I have
seen this 12,000 feet mentioned in several articles. Even if it is
1200 feet – that is still about 4 football fields long! (A football field
is about 300 feet in length - not including the end zones). That’s still
a very long pier. I find it interesting that you mention about the sharks
at the end of the pier. Personally, I always thought that was their “plan”
to throw the body in the water, so that the sharks would consume her
body to hide the evidence. Obviously their devious plan did not work!

Wasn’t the weather bad that early morning and would it be silly to go
fishing at 3:15am till about 4:30am during that time? I’m sure that there
are some folks out there who would do that though. Personally, I would
be asleep in bed at that time.

I definitely have not ruled out the other areas that you have mentioned.
I am beginning to think that the body was dumped somewhere in that
area now. I think either way – it was done west of Bay St Louis.

Garfield Ladner pier, Waveland

Thanks Vann! I especially wanted to see the picture of this pier at night.
This gives me a better idea of the length of the pier. It's still a possibility.
But, I don't think it's 12,000 feet long. Perhaps it's 1200 feet long?

A bonfire would be nice also. I think a permit is required but not difficult to get.

Yeah, I posted that earlier to someone. I think the article said 12000 ft. It was either 12000 sq. ft. Not ft. Long or a typo with to many zeroes. Should have said 1200 instead of 12000.
Also there are no security cameras just lighting which they call " security lighting.
I want to go to a pier that is across from buccaneer state park and take a few pics. I have fished from it several times late at night and many times we were the only ones out there. It's a smaller pier with very few lights. It has been raining here so I'm not sure when I'll be able to get out there.

I really thinking it was a pier that was used. The reason why I was
guessing about the Garfield Ladner Pier, because of the length. If they
dumped JL at the end of the pier, that could be a possibility too. I'm
curious to know on what you find near Buccaneer State Park. Thanks!

Yeah, the memorial is for Jaren. It'll be in the quarter and it was put together by the church women who would go into the club from time to time to talk to the dancers/employees.

You sparked my curiosity talking about the park. Take a look at this ariel view. I'm thinking west of Bay St Louis also now. Minimize the map and you get a view of Pass Christian and Long Beach on the map.

This site (from Feb 2011) says that there is a Pier Ranger on Duty at all times. There are also fees to get on the Pier listed. Is this all still applicable? If there are fees, are they enforced 24/7? This site also has additional pics.

Pier Fees

Yearly Family Pass – $30.00

Daily Walking Pass – $1.00

Daily Fishing Pass – $3.00

Senior and Handicapped Citizens – $1.50

Very nice of them to plan a memorial for Jaren.
I am glad people are not forgetting about her.

I guess this is the best answer to my question about Hancock County's lead role in the investigation. I hope they continue to find more information since there isn't much coming from here.

As investigators have not determined where Lockhart was murdered, Hancock County remains the lead agency in the case.

"We have to assume that she was killed here," Bass said. "We're giving it our all."

Thanks! I have camped at Buccaneer State Park back in the early 1990's. I also remembered
that it had a nice wave pool there. I had some fond memories of this park. I never knew that
it was connected to the beach.

I was staying in the primitive camping area as a poor college student then.

I don't think they have Pier Ranger on Duty at all times now.
I thought they were having financial problems? Perhaps they
have a Pier Ranger on call now?

She may very well have been thrown from a pier, but to me, that just seems so damn risky if you're the perp. You're pretty much exposed, there is no easy way out if seen, and its a long way to carry a body from a vehicle. Certainly is possible but just seems too risky. JMO
