GUILTY LA - Jaren Lockhart, 22, New Orleans, 5 June 2012 - #3

All right, I'm going to think out loud:

1. We have a man and woman, each of which are no more than quarter rats that we know of. She (pure speculation) is a drug addict and has mood swings. He (fact) has a previous criminal record and came to NO using a different identity. At this time, from what we know, he was not dealing drugs or acting as a middle man for the girls to make extra money. If he was doing so, the regulars in the quarter would know so.

2. Why would someone approach a such as him to lure a dancer from the bar? Because he probably operated in the underground well. I mean, the guy evades police all over the country and appears able to support himself with no job. Plus, if the doofus theory is correct, he may have been considered weak enough to manipulate, scare, control, etc.

3. Furthermore, why would he, put it in MAS hands to entice the other dancer? The answer to that is because he was using her to gain the trust of another woman. IMO. YEp.
4. A big wig wouldn't use this (TS) for a hook up. They have their own connections. Unless, they were both used as pauns in a chess game. I think they would for the above and other reasons. Why wouldn't they? Do you think better men are so easily available for Big Fish to use?

5. That boils down to either TS and MAS are the killers or they were used by someone else to carry out this dirtly little deed.
I believe in the latter to the point that it is difficult to maintain objectivity regarding the former. Difficult but not impossible.

6. Or, something else went wrong!
She didn't want to do something she was told to which offended the Big Fish(es) who don't take guff from anyone, much less someone in her position. The disrespect from those kind of people provoked that kind of response. Had underlings take care of the body in a professional way, but had TS and MAS dispose of it, which they botched.
If it was Jarens character to go out and party after work, then her BF would have no reason to jump and call LE.
He didn't jump, did he? Not until she didn't come home for a while the next day, right?

SwampMama thank you for explaining where and why her fiancé is . I have been on these boards for 9 years and I have seen the questions about loved ones involved more than I would like. But we do have our reasons to doubt my 1st case here was Laci Peterson enuff said,
But in.Jarens case I never even thought her fiancé was involved. And when Sweetly came in and confirmed that was good enough for me.
And thank you for taking the time to help the family through this horrible tragedy .

Thanks JDB! My heart feels that everyone here also has their heart in the right place and only want justice. That is why I love this website. The members are unparallelled in their quest and their compassion. I am in constant awe in the info you guys dig up on the guilty parties and your persistence in ferreting out the most obscure and hard to find details.

I firmly believe that many reporters come here to get the info because we deal in facts and make it clear when we are just speculation or expressing an opinion. You guys are the best!! Don't know if i can say that enough. I am very proud of my membership here among so many amazing, dedicated and compassionate people.

Also, to those who have come forward to defend dancing for a living and revealing their experiences as a dancer or working with dancers, thank you! You revealed something of yourself in order to defend another. We can often tend to be private here to protect our identities and don't even reveal our own names or where we live, etc so to see members come forward to defend dancing was a great thing to see. It greatly enhanced my impression of those who did.

Like many people said, it was simply a chapter in their life and they had their reasons and closed that chapter and went on in life to accomplish many other great things. Sadly, Jaren will never have a chance to close that chapter in her life and go on to cosmetology school or pursue other dreams and have her "happily ever after" ending to her story.

Once again, our members have really come thru and lived up to all that I believe them to be which is compassionate, clever, dedicated and overall, just an amazing diverse group of people of all ages, all walks of life and from across the world to come together for the cause of justice.

On the subject of a camp or abandoned building:
There are seafood processing plants at both bayou caddy (behind silver slipper casino) and in the rigolets. Obviously they are abandoned at night. And not to be morbid but you can imagine what tools and machinery are there to use. Whoever did this horrific crime needed time, space, tools, lighting and privacy. Clean up would have been easy cuz those places are set up for that kind ..well you know. Disposal of the body would have been easy also cuz these places are already on the water.

Wow... I have spent the evening catching up on Jaren. Before today I was aware of this case of course, but hadn't been able to, well, "dive in." My initial impressions (after spending from about 6 p.m. to midnight reading the amazing work you've been doing):

1. Jaren has a beautiful soul and as so many have noted, it shines out especially in her eyes and her smile--at least for those of us who will only ever know her through photos and video. It's clear that her family and friends love beyond words the intelligent, creative, beautiful young woman who rioted through their lives for too short a time. I'm going to cry if I say much more than that, but my heart aches for peace and justice for her family, both biological and chosen.

2. You posters have done an amazing job overall in keeping these threads respectful of both family/friends and of one another. Be proud of yourselves (and send Bessie lots of chocolates on her birthday!).

3. Seriously, thank you for the focused and thought-provoking posting you've been doing.

OK... Now for my thoughts about the case after reading all your posts...

Two main theories about the motive seem to be emerging--"Big Fish/Planned" and "Personal/Random." (These are what I'm calling them in my notes.) Each of these has an opposite theory as well:

Big Fish/Planned vs. Big Fish/Unplanned
Personal/Random vs. Personal/Planned

After reviewing your work in these threads, I am leaning heavily toward "Personal/Planned." Here are some reasons why, in no particular order and with no particular guarantee of coherence--but with thanks to all the posters who got my old brain a-clicking:

- I believe TS has some serious issues around women, such that he feels compelled to dominate and perhaps punish them.

• TS's adult criminal history indicates an escalating level of violence against women. I am thinking of his DV charges, followed by violating a 14 year old.

• Considering that offense, as well as MAS's girlish (some might say anorexic) appearance, and Jaren's fresh beauty (IMO she does not look 22, and I mean that in a complimentary way), I ask myself if TS has a penchant for women/girls who look underage.

• If so, I wonder if this penchant, which he apparently acted on at least three times in the early 2000s, took on a deeper dimension the older & more jaded he got?

• If the quotes from TS's mom are to be believed, she is willing to turn a blind eye to his problems and for me this is another red flag in terms of his personality and potential stance toward women he cannot "control."

• Nothing I have read from anyone who had the honor of knowing Jaren tells me that she would have been easy to dominate. She was smart. She was sexy. She had a long-term partner and a beautiful baby and loving family and friends, she was intelligent and I get the idea from those who knew her that she could be sassy when needed! A strong woman like that would infuriate an insecure fugitive like TS, especially if she got wise to him trying to trick her into something, or she refused some request he made.

• All of this makes me think that selfish TS was escalating his own (Personal) criminal desires, not working to advance those of a Big Fish.

- The KISS principle also makes me think this is a Personal/Planned murder. I do not mean that TS or MAS planned that Jaren specifically would be the one; just that the crime was planned sometime in advance (IMO and planned mostly by TS, also IMO).

• They were at Stilettos first, propositioning two dancers there. MAS was the approach, and she was unsuccessful on these two attempts.

• We heard from Nand first and on video that MAS initially said the proposed event would be a gift for TS, then changed the story to an external party opportunity at $700 (later a local reported $500).

• To me, this change of story reeks of desperation on MAS's part, and possibly drug use? Just because to offer someone one deal, get rejected and then minutes later offer another, is bad business. Or drug-induced?

• Agree with earlier post that suggested his "confidence" walking into Temptations was that he was going to solve a problem that MAS failed. Not specifically JL; IMO he happened to see her and recognize her. Maybe he didn't like her when they did work at the same place? Maybe she looked like an easy "3's the charm" get?

• I would LOVE to see the videos from Stilettos' lobby, and know how much time time they spent in there.

• The two earlier solicitations indicate to me that JL was not at all a specific target.

• I think that after MAS failed twice earlier, and somewhere between them being at Stilettos and them entering Temptations, TS revamped the come-on, and as someone else suggested, likely made the approach himself after seeing Jaren, a dancer he knew. I suspect (but have absolutely no proof, dangit!) that he approached her and offered to be her bodyguard at a private party where the gents wanted a dancer, and that since first or second dancers at Stilettos who said no were offered 500 or 700, IMO once TS decided to target JL, he upped the (imaginary) offer to 1k at least. Because he had a Personal plan to satisfy urges, and MAS was a puppet... just like all the other women on his radar.

I was interested to see the maps of the dispersal/final location of JL's remains as they have been located thus far. Thanks to the posters who shared these.

Am I correct to assume that the torso would be heaviest of what has been recovered? If so, I would think the dump spot would be near where the torso was discovered. If tides run West to East, then the reported distribution makes perfect sense to my addled brain.

But then they should be looking for the hunting knife in the water near where the torso was found, right? :waitasec:

Last question and then I'll quit--anyone have insight into Sunshine Laws in MS and LA? How much access to documents are we likely to have here?

OMG, this case is just starting and moving at a fast pace in the real world. There is a lot of investigation by LE that needs to be done before charges can even be brought. LE doesn't owe us a thing, so patience on the public's part is necessary when we choose to follow these cases.

Both states have so-called Sunshine Laws: MS has a Public Reords and Open Meetings Act, and LA has its Public Records Act. Without doing research, I do not know how transparent these Acts are compared to FL's much-touted laws.

NO disrespect to your post but I almost burst out laughing when I read the bolded above (BBM). Mississippi's "Open Meeting Act" is a joke, and the "Public Records" consist of going to the court house and seeing what you can dig up. Most counties do not have a very good filing system (or very helpful employees) so this is often frustrating and ends in very little real "public information". Don't expect any doc dumps from my state, thanks to the Good Ole Boy System the only "Sunshine" in MS is the kind in the sky.

Tell me about it. That's why I was hesitant to admit I was a dancer for 10 years. People look at me differently when they know that.

Just what I've been thinking about on this subject for a while now...

We have no idea who is on the other end of that screen name.
We have no idea what the life experiences of that person are.
We have no idea who we might offend with strongly worded, judgmental opinions.

One can certainly have "favorite" people on a board like this. People you feel you connect with... yet don't really know.
You believe you have a lot in common, because you agree on so much. Then you could find out they live a lifestyle you disagree with.

I am certain that many of my "favorites" would see me completely differently if they knew more about me, about my past.
I find that very sad.

We see the best of the people who post here in most situations.
We see people who care, are passionate, want to help, who want to make things better for other people.

Why does it matter what someone's profession is, who their significant other is, what their history is?
Being a good person... caring about other people and being willing to help them... isn't that what matters?

I don't care what Jaren did to make money. I don't care how she dressed, what she pierced or how many tattoos she had.

I care that she loved people, was willing to do anything to help them, would give them the shirt off her back if needed.

I care that she was much like myself... a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend... complete with the purple hair (sometimes.) :seeya:

I'll do some legal research tomorrow. This is what I found in a cursory search. Remember, I am in California, and we do not have a so-called sunshine law that is comparable to Florida. Perhaps a lawyer in MS or LA could shed more light on the matter. In the meantime I will see what I can find.

Msfacetious, nowhere have I read or gotten the feeling from these threads that anyone on here is judging Jaren or her lifestyle or anyone else except the POIs. All that matters to me is that our fellow sleuthers are good, honest down-to-earth folks. I know we all have our pasts, and that is what makes us who we are... we would only be deluding ourselves if we choose to present a false persona to others.

As far as piercings and tattoos... I for one DO CARE! In a positive way! I want to know the story behind each one. Why that tat there... what does it symbolize? Which one was the first? the last? Why did you get this or that pierced? Was it for you or because someone else suggested it?
I ♥ hearing the stories that are told! IMO people who have multiple WHATEVER have very old souls. They USUALLY enjoy telling the story behind each one. I am ALWAYS fascinated.
Do my kids have tats? As of week ago YES they BOTH DO!
My son got this tat in memory of his best friend that died of an over dose of phenazapam and oxycontin... BET YA NEVER heard of PHENAZEPAM!!!!4 teenage boys in GA od'd on it sadly one died.
