Thank you to all who are writing the cold hard truth.
I hope more and more people in their community take notice. I hope the judge truly sees this case.

I'm afraid they will receive a lenient sentence and then go on with their lives, thinking they are just fine and didn't do anything very wrong because hey, they served their lenient time.

I too fear a light sentence- I can just hear their defense attorney-- her parents are 66 years old now judge, they are pillars of the community; a long sentence would be a death sentence: they were good parents: they tried to do everything they could for Lacey but she was very difficult: she refused to go outside, she wouldn't eat and she would not get off the couch: they were well intentioned but they didn't know what to do- blah blah blah-- I expect maybe a 10 year sentence--- but I am not sure about that: Remember this judge let them free on bond knowing all the horror of this case.

I don't understand why the parents called her death in? I'm glad they did so they can face some form of justice, but did they just think no one would notice the neglect?

Appalling.

Peculiar isn’t it. They did everything else secretly to Lacey so why the report. I suppose they were worried about the autopsy and wanted to get ahead of it.

No coroner was going to think that the condition of Lacey was normal. The only way to avoid that would have been to hide the body. Was that what they considered to be unforgivable?

Based on their evil actions I would expect that they would have dismembered and disposed of her somewhere. It’s odd that they didn’t go that far.

Can I just send hugs to all the other many empathetic souls on this site, who are haunted by Lacey’s story and these unspeakable pictures and are determined to advocate for justice for her? This case induces nightmares and as tortured as this darling girl was in life, she has so many people who now know what happened and will always stand up for her!! This coroner is amazing. I can’t imagine the PTSD. The Fletchers’ church should be ashamed of themselves. As a Catholic I have no problem at all with ministers coming in to talk to and pray with all inmates, but a congregation coming en masse to escort *torturers* to their plea hearing is an abomination.

I also watched another YouTube report from NewsNation where a retired forensic pathologist talked about the so-called attempt by the father to perform cpr on Lacey as she laid sideways on the couch. Ashley B played the 911 tape and the pathologist listened to the sounds. She determined not only would it have been impossible to perform cpr in that position but also questioned the sound itself. IOW there’s a good possibility the parents were faking cpr!

Oh and the 911 dispatcher asked the mother three times how old Lacey was. She finally answered “31.” Lacey was 36.

Yes! I forgot to mention the fake cpr. It had to be obvious to the 911 dispatcher. It sounded like they were in a class on cpr. She attempted to sound like a distraught mother but it failed miserably.

She didn’t know how old she was?!??

A belated welcome to Websleuths @Scarlett55407! Two excellent posts on this thread. Hugs back at you. :)

We all keep coming back to that because it's one of the many things that doesn't seem to make sense

I remember some have suggested here it could be they had become numbed to it and so didn't imagine how others would perceive Laceys condition

The other thing I keep thinking is maybe it's part of how they did this.
Someone speculated maybe it started as them trying to discipline her out of her anxiety and autism and because that could never work they ended up in a standoff that never ended.
Then I keep thinking maybe they feared even at a very early stage that if they did try to get help people might think they were abusive and neglectful and maybe take Lacey away and punish them. So maybe they kept trying to cope on their own and it just got worse and worse?

I don't know.

She was several years off
in her daughters age?

in what world is it a “better look” to let your daughter mold into the couch-to death! Than to get her help in the form of a facility or rehabilitation? To try to get any help at all?

They were so popular in the community, but never talked about their daughter or had anyone over, there is such a disconnect. You would expect them to be reclusive addicts or something, the compartmentalization is staggering.

They didn’t see her as human, I fear that part of her declining condition was due to some continual trauma in the home?

Like many of you have stated-I’m very surprised given their conduct that they called it in instead of cover it up since they already had been doing so for years.

Absolutely haunting case that I don’t think I’ll ever shake. All jmo!

As others have noted, it is a big? As to what the parents thought was going to happen once they called 911.

Part of me wonders if the parents didn’t realize that experts could figure out how long Lacey had stayed in one spot on that couch. Maybe they thought that they could get away with saying that she was on the couch for just a couple weeks or something.

That would explain the mom trying to say that she came home to eat lunch with her daughter every day and that she slept on the couch with her.

I can actually share something similar, though in no remote way as harrowing. I was abused as a child by an authority figure (thank God for healing!❤️‍). One parent, a prominent attorney, found out and basically covered it up, rather than get me help and risk the other parent (they were divorced) finding out and their status in the community being jeopardized. It was all self-preservation. There was nothing approximating a normal parental love or feeling. I would die in a heartbeat for my child, so it’s chilling to see that some parents just don’t attach. The sociopathy is so present within them. Sweet, darling Lacey was a “problem” in their eyes, rather than a precious gift to protect and for whom to get resources.

I remember it was mentioned somewhere in the media that an outside person (neighbor?) may have seen Lacy on the couch and told the parents to call for help.
No idea if it's true, but it would explain their behavior because they couldn't have just kept ignoring her because of a possible witness.

Exactly!
I wanted to write it myself!

I remember reading that somebody knew of Lacey's condition/death and forced the parents to call authorities.

But I read it soooo long ago.
At the very beginning.
But never forgot it :(

But then,
I was not surprised as in my country a death certificate must be signed by a doctor.
It is an official document.
You cannot bury a person without official documents.
There is a lot of "paper work" involved with many institutions.

This story is so insane... IA with the idea that the parents must have become numb over time to how they were treating their daughter. It doesn't seem like they wanted to murder her - more like they forgot about her & then kept on "forgetting."

Was poor Lacey non-verbal? Otherwise very hard to imagine how the parents could "forget" about or even ignore her basic needs!

Why didn't Lacey get up off the couch to say go to the bathroom? Is there evidence she was tied or cuffed to the couch?

Article above said the smell in the house was something no one could live with & the parents must've been staying somewhere else... is there any more info about that?

None of this makes sense
IMO
