LE monitors these sites also. It wouldn't surprise me if Chicken Fried has a welcoming committee when he arrives.

This is starting to remind me of the movie "Rear Window"

never implied she went there... implied that at the same time she would be in the area... this bar would be on last call... one of the men in the shooting (victim) was from another town that would have put his path over parts of hers... at the right time...

i was implying that maybe something happened either on purpose or accident that night on his way home and a few days later back at the bar he told his buddy about it and did not get the reaction he was looking for from his buddy...
maybe a threat of being turned in... a shooting out of desperation..? seems plausible... as a matter of opinion... it seems to be very plausible... what else would cause a man to shoot to kill his buddy over an argument, then shoot himself in the chest..? think about it...

People shoot and kill their best friends over who ate the last slice of pizza! They don't need a big reason!

Ok since there was a request...like I said strictly postulating based on what we know of Mickey's character and some of the facts. I do not believe this was random but I also don't believe it was "completely" premeditated. I believe the perp was a socially awkward man known to Mickey through the university whether staff(think janitor, security) or student. I think that he was a sexual offender but not necessarily convicted previously..just weird as ****.
I think that he saw her either at artmosphere(he wasn't necessarily there, driving around perhaps) or another location and began to follow her. At some point whether he lightly tapped her or her bike malfunctioned(possibly something he did?) and when the chance was there he took the opportunity to approach her in a friendly way... I think that she accepted the ride out of a sense of responsibility to his feelings. I get the feeling he was not well treated but she was kind to him. He put her bike in the car and proceeded to drive not really certain what he was going to do.. At some point she got uncomfortable and tried to exit and he panicked and that's when he decided that she wouldn't leave his vehicle. I think that he has more than a basic knowledge of our area and left her bike in a place where there is high fisherman traffic so as to obscure his tracks and possible throw law enforcement off. I think he still has her and I don't think that he is inclined to kill her but as time ticks his precariously balanced mental state could over take that inclination.
I think that Mickey was picked up around the area of Lourdes hospital...the funeral home located near there has TONS of cameras so unless that is unreleased (very possible) they would have seen her.
I feel like he knows the area well enough to avoid most traffic cameras but his tracks aren't completely covered. There is something we are missing. I also think the driver of the olds 98 has very specific information and LE knows that. The likely reason this person hasn't come forward is a criminal record with current warrants. I think LE knows they saw something crucial that they are also missing. I really think this person has her still and she is alive but probably very unwell.
Does any of this resonate with anyone else? Sound plausible? I just can't bear thinking that she isn't coming home...maybe this is a product of those hopes but it is what I've thought from the very beginning.
I know I have more based on actual factual information but this theory has been bubbling in my gut for 9 days now and I just needed to get it out to rational folks who could dissect it and say "you're crazy lady! Or that could be plausible based on our info...
What do y'all think?

I think it's possible. Unlikely, but stranger things have happened. I'm absolutely positive that the truck (if not involved) and the olds (I'm sure isn't involved) know what happened and aren't coming forward, and that's why the police want to talk to them--to either validate their suspicions ('did you see the driver? could you pick him out of a lineup?') or for some sort of direction for the case ('which way did she go, because we have no clue'?) I would really, really like for her to be found alive. Statistically, most kidnappings result in murder, but if she's still alive, I'd rather think that she's alive in this way--with someone possibly enamored to her and perhaps treating her decently--than to think she was sold into human trafficking or being used sexually.

Rear Window is a 1954 American suspense film directed by Alfred Hitchcock

The shooter is still alive in the hospital with a police guard 24/7. Maybe they have asked him?

i still don't think she would have gotten in a car with a man. no matter who it was. a friend, yes, but not a weirdo. and i doubt her bike would have malfunctioned to the point where she needed a ride. if so, she would have been better off going to circle K to wait for a friend to pick her up there. also, i don't think damage to the rear tire was from someone hitting her. if a car hit her, even going super dooper slow, there would be more damage. i've accidentally hit my kids' bikes while backing out of the drive and they end up pretty messed up. bikes are delicate. i think the damage was caused while the bike was stuffed in a trunk hurriedly. it has to be a trunk, otherwise LE could see a bike in a flatbed on cameras going down I10 that night. who knows? maybe they have footage of that and just aren't releasing it.

yes i agree, but they don't then shoot themselves right afterward... that is the part that is "odd"

My old Lincoln is going to be perfect cover in that section of town. Going to dress the part with my Saints hat & shirt, along w/ the fleur-de-lis hood ornament.

I'll be careful. Always have protection too, in accordance with state law, so in an extreme situation I have some help.

Just going to scout.

OMG! Our own Ignatius Reilly!

Y'all look at the backyard of the house on the SE corner of Olivier St. and Lafayette St., Lafayette, LA, on Google Maps, satellite version.

That's where I'm going right now. You see what looks a lot like the Olds, and a boat under a tarp.

Look on Google EARTH, and the tarps on the ground and the Olds-looking car AND the boat are missing.

i wonder if that Olds has a trailer hitch?

Also check out

Has anyone been able to pull that up on google yet? Am technically challenged!

Be careful!

For those of you who dont know the area he is actually going a few blocks north of Ryan St on the north side of congress St.

How can we see the location on google, in real time satellite view?

I appreciate his spirit of finding Mickey, but he needed to just call it in. IF it is the vehicle, the owner may be more than a little shakey. Trouble finds you enough, no need to go looking for it. Let LE make those decisions. By putting this info out there he may have a greeting party...but not LE. Neighbors can be very informative. IMO, JMO, etc. And....if reading here, they know the type of vehicle he is driving. Just saying....not too smart..

http://www.theadvertiser.com/articl...estigation?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE

Just logging on this morning, so excuse me if this has already been posted- LPD has located and cleared the owners/occupants of the old car and one of the white trucks (the one with the bedcover), but are still looking for the Z71-
"Police are still looking for the driver and/or occupants of a white Chevy Z-71 pickup truck that was also seen in the same area as Shunick around the same time on May 19."

So I guess we finally have "the" vehicle.

ETA: Car buffs, are we sure the Z71 is a 4 door and not extended cab? I hope LE has made this very clear and I missed it. Be good to know exactly what we are looking for- granted, there are tons of 4 door white Z71s south LA but that's still less than looking at all the 4 door and extended cab white Z71s. Narrows it down some (not much)

good point. i guess i'm thinking like the tv writers do on Castle etc. "zone in on that license plate" then there you go, they've got a few plates numbers and they find a suspect. if only the tools on Castle were the tools in the real world

Yes, and why aren't they? Really, we take pictures of the moon but nobody has made a decent surveillance camera? I'm aware of several cases where there is video but it's too blurry, captures the person but their face is blocked by a slender fence post so the person can't to be identified, doesn't capture all sections of the parking lot so can't confirm all who may have been there, can see a car pulling out but can't get enough info about the car, camera malfunctions precisely at the time it is needed or has been recorded over by the time LE asks to look at it. :waitasec::banghead:
The cameras are just a little bit useful. Why can't places invest in quality cameras and use them correctly (be sure they're mounted properly so as to ensure images won't be obscured, etc.). That said, the cameras in Mickey's case have been useful but not useful enough to provide the detailed information that would be most helpful. As my husband walked through, I complained outloud about the cameras - he said, "People don't want to pay big taxes to help big brother". We already pay big taxes for mediocre cameras. The powerful cameras are more expensive but they exist.
Somebody said that the camera that captured Mickey's image at 1:48AM is from LCB, a government building. It's better than nothing but I wish it was better than everything.

Changing topics - earlier someone posted that the truck tailgate could have been deliberately left down so it would obscure the license plate. That's something to be considered. Good thinking. Is it legal to drive with a tailgate down? I don't think so unless you're hauling something that's obviously sticking out the back.

OT: just hearing on HLN naked may who bit off another's may probably snorted Bath Salts! Stoopid!

I understand the importance of finding 'the' vehicle, but only if that vehicle was involved. MS is not seen after the last video recording, so there is just no way to know what way she went esp if there were no cameras. This leaves a lot of stones unturned!

can anyone rule out the truck that is NOT a Z71 as being a Lincoln Mark LT?

some packages evidently have chrome gas cover

here is a silver one with a lift up bedcover

You're right- that's why I put "the" in parenthesis. Maybe this Z71 just may know/have seen something suspicious. Hopefully, if so, they will come forward.

FYI - we have two threads going at the same time...
