LE hasn't said a word to reassure the public. I've seen young ladies on alert. They seem less friendly at the moment. No one KNOWS. I am afraid for Lafayette. I can barely entertain the thought that a monster walks among us. It isn't the safest city in the world but the disappearance of Mickey Shunick was so unexpected in this town. It does remind me personally (I can't speak of others in town) of the search for DTL and the Southside Rapist.

And while DTL was still on the loose and LE in Baton Rouge was keeping quiet, the public demanded updates, we were enraged!

I understand why certain evidence needs to be private esp if it helps lead to mickey but I really hope this has nothing to do with the reason why not much seems to be coming out in the open and why it seems like interest in her case is fading day by day!!!

The spray and covers don't work. Its a gimmick. Ive tried them both. While following people I run lots of red lights and often have to speed, so I tried them so that I wouldn't have to worry about those cams. Didnt do any good. Now I just don't use my plate at all ;)

Oh well. I don't speed nor do I run lights but I do not like redflex. Ugh. lol

Aren't there salt dunes that are used for chemical waste?

I wonder if any waste company that sells/leases waste drums have gotten any new customers lately.

If they have something, I see why theyre keeping quiet. If they don't, I think they need to just go for the hail mary and start filling the media with BS about all the critical evidence they have and how close they are to catching the suspect in hopes he gets scared and ****s up or confesses.

P.I's do it all the time when we don't have substantial evidence on a subject. Pretend we have more than we do, and then the other side caves. ;)

The problem still lies in the fact that Mickey goes off any camera footage that we know of at the Circle K. Just one block down Landry, she's gone. How does that happen unless she takes Brashear St? AND, if she took Brashear, somehow down to St Mary's, and on out to Johnston, there are no cameras to capture here on that route. So, say she did that, what is the next camera that would catch her ACI?

I am trying to familiarize myself with those cases but it does sound like your state has had more than enough terrifying serial crimes. The LE sounds like it has experience and profilers who more than likely know at this point what they are dealing with.
I hope this is an isolated crime and that Mickey will be home soon.
I think the community deserves some answers or reassurance.

Lol ACI love it!:rocker:

I think a lot of people still believe this is an isolated incident. I still see people running and biking alone at dawn. I still see people who let their small children out of their sight in public places.

Just last night, I am driving and see a girl jogging down Foreman (street that runs on side of Lafayette High) with headphones on. My immediate thought was I need to roll the window down and ask this girl if she wants a ride, but of course she is jogging for fitness and will not want a ride. Fine if you want to do that, but lose the headphones, that's clearly unsafe. It was not 2am, but it was after dark.

Honestly, if she took Brashear and cut down whatever streets (doesn't matter which) to Johnston, there are still no cameras around that would've seen her. She could've made it pretty far down Johnston before being caught on a camera.

Well would u want your daughter out there at 2 am riding her bicycle?
Alone!
Not me!

If she was in her car thats a different story!

And i speculate that if she was not riding alone she would not be missing!
If she got a ride home she wouldnt be missing
She didnt
she is missing!

And thats just MY opinion!
No one has to agree with it!

The thing is: Mickey was an adult so I don't know how much sway her parents had over her. My children are 1 & 4 so I have no experience with adult children but I know there are things my parents don't want me doing... But as an adult, they can't make me not do them, KWIM?

My husband used to have business dealings with the strategic oil reserves. It's federal, and very, very secure. Very Secure!

What if it is Mickey? And what if it's from closer to 3:30am?

What if she did stop somewhere in the area of Landry for an hour or more, then headed home closer to 3:30? What if something happened to her after 3:30? Or, what if that's somebody else on HER bike at 3:30ish?I'm sure LE is looking into that. I wish we knew where that inside camera was.

This has been an issue in my head. How easily someone could put on a blond wig (or a blonde girl) and ride her bike in front of known cameras while someone else went in another direction. NO - I DON'T think that necessarily happened. But those videos are not clear enough to guarantee identity - and if someone wanted to mislead investigators, it is easily done.

Like I said, this is not my theory, but I am not 100% convinced that is Micky. The quality is too poor and I've always wondered why businesses bother putting up cameras that are inferior. Especially in banks and convenience stores. But - that's a whole other topic....

So, what, you regularly take if off and put it back on?

I thought Chicken had another update for us? Still waiting...

Indeed.

I'm a grown woman, and I come and go as I see fit. I'm well past the age that I need to get permission from my parents to spend time with friends until the wee hours, and if that's what I feel like doing, that's exactly what I'll do. I'm pretty sure that most people over the age of 18 feel the same way.

maybe she did not continue forward and doubled back - forgot something or changed her mind or whatever
we keep looking for her going forward -

Yep, that's my point, so, if that's the case, we can't possibly track her from that point. Hells bells she could have gotten almost all the way home before she was taken.
