Why march? Feels like we're headed back to the Civil Rights Movement instead of trying to come together for the future.

RBBM: What about white people, we are all of one the same.

When the evil Perpetrator killed 49 people at the Pulse Night Club, why didn't "they" march? Black people were shot then. All colors were murdered and not anyone started a huge protest against LEO because LEO risked their lives to protect, serve, and save.

All JMHO

This is how it's done. A lot of good came out of the CRM. I don't think anyone wants to travel backward, but we need to do something to alter the course we're on.

There are a lot of protesters who are white (or asian, hispanic, etc.). I mean... lots of white people support BLM and want to see fewer black people die at the hands of law enforcement. I don't know exactly what you're asking "What about white people?" Racial equality and justice should be everyone's cause.

Please do not compare this to the civil rights movement. This has nothing to do with civil rights. These are repeat criminals that are let out and usually in the process of committing a crime while being shot.

I was just stating my point of view on the subject, I was by no means being snarky. And I think I stated that it feels like we're headed backwards instead of forwards.

My reference was: Why March?

Not sure what you're referring too as in repeated criminals that are let out and usually in the process of committing a crime while being shot.

I also stated this was all JMHO

I don't think they are trying to prove anything. I think they're using civil disobedience to draw attention to their cause, bring attention to the injustice, and affect

RBBM The bolded part was what I was referring to..."their cause" meaning what about white peoples cause?

I hope I'm not that confusing lol

WBRZ TV, Channel 2, Baton Rouge has been covering the robbery of a local pawn shop.....where a number of guns were stolen....and the word on the
street was that these young men were going to use the guns to kill local police. The following is the link......

50 people arrested, most from outside of BR, during Sunday protests

According to the EBR Parish Prison booking sheet, all but seven of those arrested were from outside of the Baton Rouge area. An additional four are from cities directly neighboring Baton Rouge. The majority are from New Orleans. The rest are from Minnesota, North Carolina, Missouri, Georgia, New York, Washington D.C. and other cities from around Louisiana.

More than half of the individuals arrested were white females.

Police ID suspects arrested after federal raid at BR home tied to murder plot against police

BATON ROUGE - The raid of a home Monday and a pawn shop burglary last week are connected to the arrests of three people who said they were going to kill police at protests for Alton Sterling, the WBRZ Investigative Unit learned from sources.

"Several times in the last 3 or 4 days, we've all been asked numerous times by numerous individuals why the show of force? We couldn't say; we wouldn't say because of the investigation going on but what you saw in the response is because of the very real, viable threats against law enforcement," the sheriff explains. "All I can say beyond that is look what happened in Dallas."

I don't think racial justice is a singular cause only for black people (and other poc), especially when the majority who hold the power are white.

And like you said earlier - working on it together is one way to come together in the future.

We have a protest going on in Wichita right now and for the most part it has been peaceful. Other people leading groups can learn from the leaders of this group; he has demanded no cussing and no violence and do what the police say. Here is his chant, "Black lives matter, All lives matter." I don't care for protest just because it can go sideways so quick but if it has to be done, this is how to do it.

Is someone shot?

After mention in Barack Obama's Dallas speech, some in Baton Rouge wishing for president's visit

"Surely we should be able to hear the pain of Alton Sterling's family," Obama said to polite applause in Dallas. "When we hear a friend describe him by saying whatever he cooked, he cooked enough for everybody. That should sound familiar to us. That maybe he wasn't so different than us. So we can insist, yes, that his life matters."

What an odd thing to say at the memorial service for the five Dallas police officers. Maybe the President is no different than Alton Sterling, but I know I am and thank goodness because he had a 42 page rap sheet and in illegal possession of a firearm.

I totally agree and I don't plan on being racist in any form.

I feel any mention of the two police involved shootings was very inappropriate at the Dallas service. Especially since at this time there are no charges against any of the officers and may never be. I wonder how LE and the families of the officers killed and injured felt about it.

This disturbed me during President Obama's speech.....

He made a boo-boo teens can NOT buy a glock without a permit and must be 18/21,(depends on the state?)with no criminal background.

Personally I thought that was odd to say during his speech to believe in unity, for the fallen officers. 🎗

I noticed the officers sitting directly behind him on the stage didn't look too happy. At one time when everyone applauded, the officers didn't, then the next time some applauded but it looked forced IMO. I'm pretty sure he's referring to obtaining them illegally, which apparently is pretty easy to do.

With trouble known to erupt right out of the blue without warning and going from peaceful to violent in the recent days I would feel a lot more comfort to see LE in my area in full riot gear and the armored vehicles have never bothered me either. Thank goodness though no one is protesting in our city/county or anywhere

I wish some of the Dallas police officers had all been wearing their full riot gear including their protective helmets and maybe if they had had an armored vehicle standing by that night they could have closed in on the mass murderer much sooner using the armored vehicle as protection.

How can they block major highways? How is that legal when ambulances/fire/police and emergency responders need those highways open in case of emergencies which are always happening?

SNIPPED FOR SPACE 😊
I think we will see LE in tactical gear if this continues due to the threats and the arrest made today/yesterday.

galiuro found a good article about blocking interstates.

As for why protestors should not be allowed on freeways here ya go:

http://www.fox13memphis.com/news/pa...t-call-paramedics-to-help-young-son/396934340

And that's what the Baton Rouge PD was trying to prevent, the protesters getting on the freeway. Because free speech is not without limits and for good reason.

Thank you for this, been in discussions about this happening‼️ Good find 👍🏼

Had he not acknowledged Sterling, it would have looked like the Dallas PD officer's lives were more valuable to Obama than AS's was. That definitely wouldn't help the current tense situation at all.
