Have there been large scale protests anywhere regarding the death of somebody who had pulled a gun on police and was subsequently killed? (serious question)

Antonio Martin? Not sure what your definition of large scale is, though. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/12/25/protesters-berkeley-shooting/20889139/

Then there was Vonderrit Myers in StL Missouri. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/10/09/st-louis-police-shooting-white-officer-black-teen/16959545/

Not sure if this is large scale but it seems the same protest/activists are in other large cities citing A Martin, V Myers and others in their chants and signs that have been killed by police after pointing a weapon at LE, running down an LE or shooting an LE. I haven't really looked but I think I could find more.

The investigation into the May shooting death of Housing Authority of New Orleans Officer James Bennett has not generated many leads. Once again police are asking for the public's help in solving what has now become a cold case...

People who live at the Estates "Desire" development where Bennett worked remember him fondly.

"He was a very fair officer, you know, real sweet person, never bothered nobody," resident Toria McDaniel said. "I can't understand why they did that to him."

A man awaiting trial for attempted murder was arrested Saturday after he was found in possession of the service weapon stolen from a slain HANO police officer, a case that stands as one of the city’s most prominent unsolved murders, police and records show.

Charles Garner, 18, was picked up at 10:15 p.m. at Martin Luther King Boulevard and John Raphael Way, less than a mile from where Office James Bennett was killed while working a paid detail last May at a Guste Housing development construction site. Garner had been free after posting bond in the earlier attempted murder case...

New Orleans Police Department spokesman Tyler Gamble confirmed the arrest, but declined to provide additional details, citing the open investigation.
