A 7-year-old girl was killed during a pit bull attack while she was playing outside in a relative's Louisiana neighborhood, authorities announced Friday.

The Advocate and WLBT-TV identified the girl as Sadie Davila, a beloved first grader at Woodlawn Elementary in Baton Rouge,

Medical personnel told detectives Sadie suffered from "numerous dog bites to her face and substantial damage to her skull," a police affidavit obtained by the outlet reports.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, the dog's owner has been charged with negligent homicide "for failing to confine or restrain the dog and leaving it to roam the neighborhood."

WGMB-TV identified the owner as Erick Lopez.

Well, there it is, folks. SMH. Why, why, why? The dog could have been hit by a vehicle or gotten lost romping with another dog or chasing a rabbit, etc., etc. Even that, IMO, is very foolish and very irresponsible to the neighborhood.

But this...
No matter what kind of dog, we would never let our dog run the neighborhood, and we are in an isolated area. We've had several dogs (Springer Spaniel, and two black Labs) and they were never allowed to run free. Ever.

So now this horror. I didn't really even want to see that beautiful little girl because I know it would make me scream and cry.
At least the owner is in Big Trouble, but the little girl is still gone, and her death must have been nothing but pain and fear until she took her last little breath.

I didn't know people were still sentenced to hard labor. I'm fine with that but needs to be more than 5 years, IMO.

Absolutely it should be much more than 5 freakin' years. The owner, IMO, aided & abetted the cruel murder of that sweet little human being by letting the dog run freely in the neighborhood. It's criminal, IMO, period.

Wasn't there a little girl in Lockport, NY mauled and sodomized by a pitt bull a few years ago? Those dogs scare me. MOO Katt
