A hunter in the Pennsylvania woods found human remains on Tuesday, the Pennsylvania State Police said in a press release.

The remains have not been identified. The recent findings included a skull, over 20 bones and clothing but not the entire skeleton, per KDKA. The remains were found in a wooded area off Route 422 near Ambrosia Road in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.

In addition to the remains not being identified, authorities say neither the gender nor age of the person has been determined. They speculate that the remains have been in the woods for at least a few years, reports KDKA.

At least three females are on the missing list from Lawrence County, and a volunteer search group spokeswoman said she is hoping beyond hope — but through pure conjecture only — that the remains found are those of Jessi M. Brumley Short, whose family reported her missing 10 years ago when she was 25.

Also still considered missing is 15-year-old Laura Lynn Thompson, who disappeared 30 years ago and was last seen on Jan. 7, 1993. Her accused killers, Joseph Marshall Jr. and Sean McDonough, were charged with her murder in 2010 and were prosecuted, but police never found her remains.

A third missing woman is Melissa Henson, who disappeared Jan. 22, 2021, at age 35. She wasn’t reported missing until around mid-April that year. Her family lives out of town, and friends saw her last in New Castle on Jan. 17, 2021. The New Castle Police Department is investigating her case.

Looking through namus, my guesses were Jessi Short mentioned in my previous post or Mark Murincsak. Here is his write up from namus

Mark's sister last saw him on Saturday evening, September 30, 2006. Mark had worked his shift at Walmart, arrived home at around 11:15pm, had a snack, asked his sister to wake him at 8:00 the following morning and went to bed.On Sunday morning, around 6am, his sister was awakened by the state police, who told her that Mark's truck was parked on the Shenango River Bridge on the Rte 422 Bypass in Taylor Township. The keys were in the truck. She checked Mark's room, discovered that he was not in the home and drove out to where his truck was parked.A search was initiated at 6:30 that morning, with local police and the Taylor Township Fire Department searching the area where the truck was found. A state police helicopter flew over the river but no sign of Mark was found.Mark previously lived in Slippery Rock but moved in with his sister in their late father's house in Princeton after their father's passing 5 months prior to Mark's disappearance. Whether Mark jumped from the bridge or walked away has never been determined.

Results of a forensic dental examination were inconclusive, and the bone is being sent to a private DNA lab for further analysis and comparison, New Castle police Chief Bobby Salem said Monday.

A private DNA lab will provide results faster than if the samples are sent to a state or FBI lab, he said.

Coroner Richard “R.J.” Johnson said that the testing could take at least eight weeks after the private lab receives the samples.

Lawrence County Coroner Richard "R.J." Johnson said experts concluded the person found in the wooded area of the New Bedford/Pulaski area off Route 422 in the fall was a white male who had been missing for a year or more from an area outside of Lawrence County.

He said the information he has received through forensics and DNA has definitively ruled out a few people who are missing from Lawrence County, all of whom are women.

Identified as James R. Noesner from Akron, OH. He was last see leaving a halfway house around the Youngstown area. COD undetermined.

July 12, 2024

Skeletal remains found in November off of Route 422 in Pulaski Township have been identified as a man missing from Ohio.

Lawrence County Coroner Richard "R.J." Johnson said the bones are those of James R. Noesner, who would be 46, of the Akron, Ohio, area. He had been reported missing in May 2022 at age 44.
