If the accidental drowning is the defense, it's going to be a very hard sell to a jury. Let me guess... they are going to say Casey just couldn't tell her demonic mother about the unfortunate death, and covered it up. STILL, they have to explain Casey's "ugly coping", which no reasonable jury will accept, IMO. Especially not in Florida. No parent, Grand parent, could imagine anything other than true grief during those "31" days. I don't see the jury getting past the 31 days at all.

Are they going to try and explain the duct tape with Kronk ? The tape came from the Anthony home, as did the trash bags, blanket and canvas bags. Duct tape on a deceased child equals murder, hiding the body in the woods equals cover up. Accidents involve calls to 911, attempts to save the child, honesty (not lie after lie) to LE. Had it been an accident, anyone (after faced with jail) would have spilled the beans. Especially Casey.

This duct tape was placed on Caylee's face in multiple, long, strips. It was placed so securely as to keep the mandible in place for six months when the other joints had disarticulated long before. The person who applied that tape, had no intention of it ever coming off and it didn't (until the ME had to take it off).

No reasonable jury will buy the excuses the defense is trying to sell, IMO.

Everything you ever wanted to know about ICA and her Defense team.
Two years + later and they are still trying to come up with a plausible story.
I rest my case.....

I stayed up late last night and got up early this morning and am on 3 hours sleep and anxiously waiting for the next hour to pass for today's hearing. So I'm delirious and haven't gotten through this whole thread, or have the strength to go back and look, so I'm just going to throw this out there for the time being.

When exactly was the first mention of duct tape being over the nose? From whom did that information first come? Where was the verification of that? I can't believe we'd have been discussing duct tape over the nose for two years if it were not actually proven to us to be so. We don't speculate like that. So how come all of a sudden it's big news (to TP) that Dr. G is saying it might not have been over the nose? Oh I can't even think, I have to go make tea.... :coffeeup:

ITA...These therories are nothing new...they have been gone over and over for some rationale as to how or even possible why the coverup....They truly won't play out well in court---those 31 days and all the nonsense that was played out in aland won't go over...and SOMEONE, ANYONE please tell me WHY DOES THE DEFENSE THINK THAT JUST BECAUSE THERE ISN'T A CAUSE OF DEATH IT CAN'T BE HOMICIDE/MURDER?????---WHEN DOES A CHILD JUST WANDER ABOUT?????---It seems like the big go to ticket for defense atty's around....no cause---can't be murder/homicide....

They are scraping the barrel with all this garbage, trying to fnd something to crack----How are they going to cover all the stories (read LIES) about Zany going to play out?--No one has really looked for her, except LE---they at least tried----And the lines about her work, dropping Caylee off at 9:00 to 1:oo that day.....they are in a world of hurt....

The only "staging" of the crime scene was done by ICA herself...:banghead:

Gnatcatcher, There was a statement made that the duct tape was covering the nasal apertures. It was in an official report, I thought it was the autopsy. I think Dr G just can't say with 100% certainty that it covered her nose. I wish I had time to search for that report. Anyone remember where the "nasal apertures" statement was reported?

Ashton persisted: “There’s no evidence to suggest any other cause of death other than the tape. Would that be a fair statement?”

“Right,” said the medical examiner. “I believe the tape indicated that there is foul play. I cannot say for certain whether the tape caused a suffocation.”

Then Cheney Mason took over and turned Ashton’s question on its head: “Is there any evidence that tells you that this child did not drown?”

“Again, based on 20 years of being a medical examiner, based on seeing many, many drownings, it’s the circumstances of death that are most disturbing in this case,” Garavaglia said. “I have never seen a drowning, nor do I see reason why a drowning (victim) would have duct tape on the lower half of the face. I would say that is evidence itself that there’s no indication that this child would drown and there’s no reason why a child that’s drowned is put in a plastic bag and dumped on the side of the road.”

The defense, well actually CMason, who is allegedly the "King of reasonable doubt" will have a very hard time selling this theory to the court/jurors. Uncle Rick was the first one to bring this to view in his emails to Cindy...

It all boils down to, not calling 911, if this were the case.

The defense is saying something happened on July 16, 2008 (my words) to Caylee, then how in the world can a loving, caring, attentive mother just continue on with their lives as if nothing happend to their child. She watched movies with TonyL, captured on video, renting movies, slept over that night and the rest of the month evaded her parents, gave excuse after excuse why she couldn't bring Caylee home or have the grandmother speak to Caylee over the phone.

The pontiac is abandoned, the grandparents have the smell of death, which alerts them and they call police. Now ICA gives this unbelievable story of Zani the Nanny not bringing Caylee back or she abducted her at JBPark. How in the world does the defense expect those jurors to buy this allegation of the baby drowned? Not calling 911 which would have given Caylee a chance to be resusitated does not equal an accident but there we have it, just like GA allegedly stated to KH, it was an accident that snowballed...yeah, it snowballed so you all could make big bucks on off the blood of Caylee...either way, you all look like a bunch of dysfuctional arses who went along with this rather than confront your daughter. They rather buy into that bullcrap. I hope, really hope and prayer, this is what does ICA in and those jurors give that recommendation for a DP sentence. It's more egregious when they lay it out this way, for an accident does and will happen. It's what the mother does after this accident of her child that makes it all a different ballgame.

The prosecution needs to end their examination of Dr. G with this last paragraph...for it doesn't make sense that a drowning took place...JMHO

Rest Peacefully sweet Caylee. The prosecution will set the record straight for you. You deserved so much better....JMHO

Music Man.....calling Music Man.....

I was just thinking whilst reading through the thread..."why weren't we (ws) reading this depo right along with TP?" Yes indeed MM where are ya dude? You know we love ya and you know we need ya :rocker:

First, Ashton reminded Garavaglia that University of Central Florida anthropologist Dr. John Schultz had determined the duct tape was “covering the mouth and nasal aperture areas.” The latter is the opening in the front of a skull, where the nose would be.

I believe JA started off with that...I found this reference in the same article..JMHO

There was no drowning, the only drowning going on here is the dt, in their lies
is this supposed to be REASONABLE doubt? ahem..

At least this is the kind of thing the defense should be doing. They, at least CM, is challenging the evidence. How well they can do that, well, that is another story. I have no issue with all of this.

TP's sensationalism was annoying manipulation for ratings: "specter", "hell or high water" "heart of the matter". Overblown crap for ratings, imo. All that drama.

I think this was released by the defense directly to Pipitone, we don't have it because it isn't available yet. Defense is trying to manipulate us again, it is all...spin spin.
Today they are going to try and implicate Kronk again, seeing as they can't do it in court, they are going to try and get the media, who are defense friendly, to influence prospective jurors with this nonsense.

I'm not waiting up until 11pm for the next load of drivel...

An accident? LOLOLOL! Let’s talk duct tape!

A 2" piece of tape could cover both nose & mouth of a toddler’s small face, but there were THREE pieces of tape across her face… Casey wanted to make sure she couldn't breathe, no other possible reason. None. Mason is an idiot to think with all the duct tape on this baby's face that any juror will buy there was a separate accident, especially with no request for help.

I think Mason should try on the same sizes of duct tape at trial, "if the tape doesn't fit you must acquit". But unfortunately he won't dare do it, 3 pieces of 2" wide tape would cover even Mason's nose & mouth. However I’d bet the state is planning a demonstration for the jury, plus we haven’t seen the crime scene photos showing placement of the tape on her head. Add in a few other details like the 31 days & the tattoo and we’ll have check & mate. moo

Duct tape in evidence from Caylee's face/head:

Q62 = 9.75”
Q63 = 7.5”
Q64 = 8.75”
Width: 2"

I would tend to believe that KC doesn't hold a candle to Manson's crazy, particularly with all of the psychedelics and the freakin x/swastika he carved into himself as some sort of trial fashion statement....and look where he is....

BBM. Yikes! I thought that said Mason!

Detectives gave Casey a chance to go with an accidental story and Casey said that she was sticking to her story, Zanny took Caylee, because it was the truth. That Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez was the last person she seen Caylee with and that is who she, Casey, left Caylee with on June 16th, 2008.

I'm going to go back and listen to the phone call Casey made to the Anthony home where she talked to Cindy, Lee and Kristina. Anyone who can claim that Casey was "ugly coping" about her babies "accidental drowning" needs to listen to this phone call where Casey, when hearing Kristina sob and saying that she would die if anything happened to Caylee and Casey relies back that calling them is... a waste... a huge waste.

^^^^ This phone call, if a jury does get to hear it, may just be what gets Casey the death penalty.

I listen to this phone call everytime I start to get worked up about this case and the claims of the defense.

One reason they want the Universal interview omitted probably.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question! I graduated High School in 1985. I distinctly remember being certified in CPR every year from 8th grade and up. On my knees in the school hallways with "Annie". ARE YOU OK? You in the red shirt! CALL 911! Am I the only one? Did they stop teaching that in school or was it just a Georgia requirement?

I've lived in SW Florida for over twenty years. There have been too many accidental drownings of young children, more than I can remember anyway, but in all of the incidents that I can recall, the parents or care givers called 911 immediately.

There has not been a single "ugly coping" cover up for an accidental drowning. It happens. It's tragic. It's accidental. The public is sympathetic toward the parents loss and very few parents have been prosecuted for neglect. It has to be glaringly obvious that the child was unattended due to drug use or left home alone etc...

No reasonable parent hides the fact of drowning with duct taping and dumping the child's body down the road and calls it a kidnapping!

KC could have intentionally drowned Caylee and still presented an accidental drowning and perhaps gotten away with it.

I, as a juror, wouldn't believe for one second that this was an accidental drowning.

Good luck defense team.

Post #269 in this thread. Start watching/listening at 2 minute mark. JA states this. :)
