All of this doesn't really mean anything. Russell Williams had no priors either and his friends and family AND co-workers AND superiors all were shocked at what he did, I bet it was a jaw-dropping moment for them. Believe me from my own experience that when you find out someone you know did something like this, your first reaction is always 'wow, he just didn't seem the type' or 'wow, I can't believe he did that, he seemed so normal" or "wow, I can't believe a member of my own family is a child molester, or a killer", etc

A deviant sexual nature is not something you want your friends and family to know about. Some people are good at hiding their true nature (wasn't MR always hiding his private life from his girlfriends) even fromt those they love, ie. Gary Ridgeway, the green river killer and Russell Williams, and who knows who else.

Just as a side note:

It just takes alot of time to process that kind of info and sometimes it can take years for families to come to terms with the truth. Families of people who kill and/or engage in other violent crimes are just as much victims of those crimes.

It is very, very common to see those who know a criminal to say stuff like, "He always seemed like such a nice guy..." to the media. That we haven't heard much in the way of negative comments about MTR means nothing to me.

And I also very much disagree with you that predators often times have criminal records because often times they do not which is why we hear all those, "I never would have thought they were capable of that.".

I'd bet that many of the people in MTR's life who did not use drugs had no idea that he was taking those pills. People hide things, some better than others and sometimes it seems like the worst of the worst are the most skilled when it comes to that kind of deception.

That's the nature of the beast.

Many people do not know the evilness of child molesters as they are very secretive, cunning and use threats to silence their victims. IIRC MR had an interest in women with young children.:steamed: We have heard from a number of ex girlfriends in MSM reports MR was interested in unusual sex acts. The knowledge we have gained about him having more than one woman on the line at a time would be another indicator he was hiding his sexual deviance. It would seem to one woman he was not overly sexual and that was because he was spreading his sexual activities around with multiply partners. Ei., although TLM claims they only had sex a few times, MR was getting his sexual urges filled with other partners while dating TLM.

We must remember these are only a few women who have spoken out about MR. I'm sure there is more to come through other witnesses, maybe his laptop and BB. Then there will be those who never spoke up and never will because they don't want to be associated with this bad, bad seed. Time will tell. Seems to me that the more the trial progresses, the more damaging it gets for MR and more credibilty is showing through for TLM. :moo:

I probably should have been more clear in my post. I guess I'm just thinking that if they had already planned to abduct a child for nefarious purposes, then I would have thought they would have discussed the age of the child that he wanted before actually committing the abduction. I would think that TLM would have known the age of girl she was looking for, and would have found a younger one if she knew ahead of time what MR's preference was. If it was his idea, and he was the engine behind it, then I would think he would have made his wishes clear. Either way, I can't discuss the topic without wanting to be sick. No child should ever endure what Tori did. JMO.

I think they had only discussed something like what the ended up doing in very general terms, I don't think they made specific plans ahead of time about what they were going to do or how they were going to do it.

It is a very disturbing topic. I wish that we could protect children from these kinds of criminals, and I also wish with all my heart that this had not happened to Tori.

I understand what you mean. But as for them discussing the age before-hand, TLM did say she didn't wake up that morning thinking she would abduct a child. And perhaps he did tell her the age he wanted, perhaps it's just TS that looked older. She looks like she was very wise for her 8 years. Kids these days look and act much older than what they really are.

I know a child molestor who is out of jail now. His family are divided over his guilt and a former girlfriend hooked up with him as soon as he was sprung. Unless it's someone who's a repeat offender and known to everyone, they usually fly under the radar.
 
Do we think TLM knew VS was TM's daughter? Sorry to set that discussion off again ...

More than one MSM story featuring MR's exes and friends have poofed since their publications (on or just after May 20th 2009). I suspect it is because of possible testimony against him. JMO

I guess we are divided on the subject. Those who believe she was abducted for drugs do, those who don't believe she was abducted for drugs don't I think :)

I don't think she knew Tori or that Tori was Tara's daughter. I don't think it had anything to do with how or why TLM approached Tory.

Thanks ... this group does seem divided.

I brought up the question because I can't help but remember how I felt when this abduction first happened & how "unusual" TM's reaction seemed to me (IMO). I thought that she acted like this was going to get "resolved", which lends credence to their being some kind of behind-the-scenes issues (drugs?).

Maybe MR wanted a younger child that wouldn't be a reliable witness. Maybe was not in the plan to murder the child but when TLM teturned with an older child..one who could point the finger at him... he or they decided it would be better to do away with her. Maybe thats why they didn't have any bags or hammer with them. MMO.
