My immediate thought was....so the numbers wouldn't add up to the same amount? :what:

If I am understanding Samuels... pretty much everything supports/fits his original hypothesis, which he achieved "totally impartially"... but he gets upset if suggested that it is as conveniently pro-defense as is JA's selective amnesia.

Did we ever find out what happened to Steely today?

Hope no one minds, just wanted some insight on this, moved over from end of last thread. I haven't been able to watch all of the trial. I have a question that maybe some of you can help me with. I am pretty much the same height and weight as TA but 20 years older. I can think of no way a 115 pound female could stab me 29 times unless I was physically restrained. After the first stab, I would be in fight for survival mode. I might not survive, but she would surely be at least seriously injured if not killed. You might get stabbed once if it was from behind. The second stab would be a glancing blow as you turned towards your attacker. There wouldn't be a 3rd stab wound except maybe a defensive wound to the hands or forearms. I would think any 200 pound man could incapacitate any 115 pound woman with a single blow. From that point it would go very badly for the smaller incapacitated attacker. I believe the gunshot was forensically proven to have occurred after the stabbings. But even at that a .25 pistol is not immediately debilitating under most circumstances. It makes me wonder if that's why JA removed the ropes from the scene. Were they used in the commission of the crime? Was TA tied up either as sex play or at gunpoint before the knife attack occurred?

This is a great post and I thought some of the same things when I first became aware of this case after seeing 48 hours when it was first on. Then you realize that whatever her first strike was, gun or a knife to the chest, it was a fatal wound. Maybe not fatal immediately, but within a number of minutes. He just would not die fast enough, so she kept attacking. But I think that Travis was in great pain and shock from that first wound and so could not defend himself as he would have otherwise been able to. He does have defensive wounds to his hands, so he did make some attempt.....

The other thing to keep in mind, is that, aside from this trial, where Travisnis being portrayed as some kind of violent abuser by his murderer, EVERYONE else in his life remembers him as being a gentleman. I believe he had such a strong abhorrence to violence, that even as she was clearly trying to kill him, he only tried to defend himself and just could not bring himself to HURT her. Ultimately that is what allowed her to continue her attack and take his life. Jmo, of course.

Y'know how sports fans remember seemingly obscure stats for various sports?
Same phenomena, different topic ...

Quick ... what date was the phone sex tape created?
How many miles were on the rental car?
What was returned to Darryl at the beginning of the death trip?
What was Bobby Juarez wanting to do in San Francisco?

What I can't understand is how it is ethical for him to have given her the book to read in order to (he admits) influence the outcome of the evaluation?

What I'm surprised Juan didn't hone in on (yet) is......as per Samuel's statement, upon his first visitation, he be-gifted Jodi with this book because..... he's a compassionate kinda fella!

Therefore...even before the interview STARTED, he ASSUMED her innocence! A bona fided professional and impartial psychologist would NEVER assume ANYTHING without at least a preliminary interview. But he came to meet her with a gift in hand. How telling is that?

Just how 'unbiased' could he be if he's bestowing her with a book of 'confidence'?
For all he knew, maybe she lacked confidence because she wasn't able to kill Travis in a more timely manner! (exaggerating my point but still) He had no idea and was only going on what her lawyers shared with him.

This book might be the catalyst to his disingenuous and disheveled testimony! I hope Juan mops the floor with him on Monday!

HLN is saying Doc was "tearing up". It just keeps getting better.....and.....better....and better.....

It must be nice to have a job that pays $250/hr and still be allowed to make the mistakes Samuels has and be as sloppy as he has/is; particularly when it's as important as life or death.... literally.

OMG!

The doc bought into the Law of Attraction.

Think it, speak it, create the reality you want. ;)

Your Erroneous Zones: Step-by-Step Advice for Escaping the Trap of Negative Thinking and Taking Control of Your Life [Wayne W. Dyer]

Yup. And this pop-psychology book is going to 'help him' with the accuracy of his evaluation, how?

Cracks me up that he keeps saying that. :giggle: :giggle:

Wayne Dwyer helped crack Jodi and she fessed up...LOL

Why no pictures of the tying up incident as JA insisted this was one of TAs biggest fantasies. There were no ropes, just excuses for a knife to be handy.

Thanks, very true no ropes in the pictures. Also no .25 cal pistol in pictures either. Restraint can be accomplished in other ways too such as gun point. Just a curiosity of the physical evidence versus the testimony.

Obviously you're not a mitigation specialist lol. :)

I'm not either, but I've worked with them, and I would say, for starters:

--she's been "abused" her whole life, starting with the wooden spoon and ending with mean old Travis

--she's somewhat deranged mentally and doesn't react normally to things

--she was really really in love with Travis and was under tremendous stress because he didn't love her back

--she doesn't remember killing him, so it would be unfair to punish her for it

--her family would be sad if she were put to death, and just when she and her parents were starting to get along...

--this was her very first crime

--no way will she ever kill anyone again--she's over that now

Does the MS actually get up and present these points during the penalty phase? If so, then I think Jodi should go ahead and pack her bags for Death Row. This woman is absolutely unprofessional in court. Her clothes frequently showcase her cleavage, she bends over Jodi, whispers to her, rolls her eyes and makes faces at Juan, looks like she's asleep most of the time, and always has at least 2 beverages on her table & she just generally reminds me of a vastly immature and ignorant woman who doesn't know how to act properly in a courtroom. :twocents:

Her version of rope sounds different than the Doc's testimony of "twine"

twine hurts.

I went to spell one and typed JUAN :giggle:

Marking my spot!

Always a pleasure when Juan closes out the day and even better when he ends the week! We're getting closer to the end of the defense CIC :please: and closer to Juan's rebuttal and ultimately closer to justice for Travis and his loved ones.

I'm grateful to have spent another week with the wittiest, smartest, most dynamic and kindhearted (see: compassionate ;)) justice seekers out there!

If I don't see you all before -- see you next week! :seeya:
:seeya: Me too!
My DH is officially into the case. He came home and sat down to watch the live stream. Then he looks all worried and I said don't worry, HLN is way behind, you can see Juan tear this guy a new one. YES! He's on board!:floorlaugh::great:
You are ONE LUCKY person..... DH hates it. Can't wait for it to be over.....

OK, so Juan Kicked some donkey. In a major way. I am crashing from adrenaline.

AMEN! Hellofa day at work. Glad to come home and see a bit before it was over. I am sure I will rewatch on video.

Here is what I do not understand...Why did anyone really think that a defense witness, even if he is a psychologist, is not going to be biased. Just the same if the prosecution had her evaluated, I would expect some bias also. It goes with the territory. I don't share the majority opinion that this witness is a complete dufus. SOme of what he said makes sense to me. I think it's possibly she truly does not remember the actual killing. I also don't think it matters. The evidence of premeditation is overwhelming. And I realize I am in the minority opion here, but I can not stand JM. I don't feel this is passion we are seeing..it's just over the top aggression. He has every right to go after wintnesses, challenge them ect. But he is insulting, demeaning and unprofessional. definelty suffers from a Napoleon complex!! If I were on the jury and if the evidence was not so overwelhming, he would have lost me weeks ago. I am surprised the judge has allowed such conduct.

Everyone has the right to their opinion. I will share mine with you, Juan is passionate about his job. I believe the interrogation tape with Flores proves treating Jodi with kid gloves will not get you anywhere and therefore I found his treatment of her was needed.
Beyond that the fact that while Juan pounded at her she smugly and sarcastically tried to smack right back at him. The actions of a timid PTSD victim? I think not.

Wow, Stephanie. I got the SAME RESULTS merely by following my "yes yes yes yes yes" lying strategy. :what: We must be geniuses according to Dr. S.

You guys must both have your doctoral degrees if you managed to manipulate the test?

Yes, but there is a 25 cal BULLET in the (autopsy) pictures. The "rope" is clearly a lot more fictional than the gun.
