Wow, just ordered the e book for Kindle. Am going to start reading tonight. Such a sad case.

Finished the ebook. Was very good.There were a few details not found in other sources. I wish Lori's sister would chime in, but it's certainly her right not to do so.
Wanted to let everyone know that there's an ID series that has an episode about Lori. Also, Lori's religion appeared to be a source of comfort for her. I wonder if divorce was a trigger (her mom and dad and then her own). I doubt we'll ever find out but I hope she's finally resting in peace. Thank you for the link! I had missed that episode. I feel that Lori suffered traumatic episodes in her childhood and chose to leave her family permanently. She really didn't have the experience of a happy childhood/family life to know how to have her own little family

Bookmarking. Just saw this case featured on People Magazine's true crime show, and I had a feeling that it was Websleuths that the amateur detectives they interviewed alluded to.

Through all of this, there arare 2 things that st stick out to me: one is the strained relationship with the stepdad. I wonder if there was sexual or mental abuse there. Is he even alive? Also, Lori's in-laws are a pain in the *advertiser censored*, esp that mother-in-law, who butted in at every turn. Lori's life was none of that woman's business and Lori owed her nothing. Lori was not obligated to share any info with her in-laws-her life is private, it's that simple. I don't gibe with the idea that in-laws have to know all about you and your life. Lori's mother-in-law should have just minded her own business.

The People Magazine program on this case alluded to the fact that "Lori" willfully turned down an $84,000 inheritance from her father. The only reason that I can think of to do that- and it's a glaring red flag to me- is a history of sexual abuse, and even though changing your name 3-4 times seems extreme, it is a way to escape that traumatic of a past. I still think that she was affected severely by something since she felt the need to seek out religion- said father was atheist- and divorce was a no-no in her religion, that she thought suicide was a better option. These are my opinions to clarify. Just learned about this case...

One more update: People magazine DID interview her childhood friends, showed the old photos of her that are on this thread, and the Ruff and McLean families have met.

I forgot what state they (family or attorney) mailed the notice of inheritance check to Kimberly? I am wondering how they knew to mail it there? That is what must have led her to begin the identity change?
