I just don't know if I'll be able to follow this case even though it seems really interesting and I'm so so tired of athletes with big wallets and no brains and no conscious getting away with crimes. My ' caseload' ;) is just so full . Thanks to everyone who is following closely so those like me can check in once in awhile and get caught up without reading all day.
This jersey trade in thing is genius, huh?

The American Civil Liberties Union is concerned about Aaron Hernandez's accommodations in prison as the former New England Patriots tight end waits for his murder trial to start.
In a blog post on ACLU.org, the group expresses concern about the damage being done to Hernandez as he is placed in protective custody, also known as solitary confinement – which the ACLU argues can do more damage than good. It cites international communities "that recognize solitary confinement as a form of torture."

Why weren't they concerned about all the other prisoners in solitary all over the country ? PULEEZE !

» Hernandez was "argumentative" during the first encounter with police following Lloyd's death, according to documents. An affidavit says Hernandez asked, "What's with all the questions?" and locked the door of his house behind him during initial police questioning. He came out ten minutes later and agreed to talk.

» Investigators wrote: "Mr. Hernandez's demeanor did not indicate any concern for the death of any person."

» In total, eight search warrants were executed. The objects found by authorities included a Sentry safe containing a box of .22 "game loads" ammunition, a scale found inside the safe, one gunshot residue kit, an Apple iPhone 5, an Apple iPad 16 GB tablet and a hard drive.

» Hernandez's girlfriend immediately started crying when told of Lloyd's murder. She later said Lloyd dealt marijuana. Hernandez called his girlfriend during her conversation with police and told her to stop talking, instructions that came from Hernandez's sports agent.

» Hernandez's girlfriend said she was aware Hernandez did not return home on the night in question. They had dinner for Father's Day earlier that night while a babysitter watched their child.

In a search of Hernandez's home, police found a box of "Game Loads" .22 bullets. Inside a safe, they discovered a scale and dish used to weigh drugs. From Hernandez's home in North Attleboro, police removed clothes, shoes, a wrist watch, an FEG Hungarian rifle and "1 gunshot residue kit from mattress."
Here are some key findings from the warrants and affidavits therein:
• Surveillance video taken from Hernandez's home shows him meeting two men in his driveway at 12:40 a.m. on the day Lloyd was killed. Video surveillance shows Hernandez entering his home, accompanied by Shayanna Jenkins, Ernest Wallace and a third male. Video shows Hernandez holding a gun as he walks inside, then switching it from hand to hand.
• Jenkins, Hernandez's fiancee, told police she and Hernandez had gone out to dinner for Father's Day. When they returned, she went to bed early, but that Hernandez had gone out. When asked by police who Hernandez had gone out with that night, Jenkins said she did not know. Jenkins cried when told by police that Lloyd had been killed.
• Hernandez rented a Nissan Altima. Massachusetts State Police claim tire tracks found near Lloyd's body were consistent with a Nissan Altima.

Again, thanks to Altmari, we know more about the night Hernandez and Lloyd were at the club that apparently set the former Patriots tight end off. "Hernandez and Lloyd were at Rumor nightclub that Friday night. Worker there told police Hernandez had a handgun visible from his waistband," the warrant says. "Hernandez and Lloyd got so drunk on the Friday night before murder they never made it back into Hernandez's house slept outside instead."

Ortiz told police that, after picking up Lloyd, the four men headed back to North Attleborough. Along the way, Hernandez told Lloyd that Lloyd had been "chilling" with people Hernandez had problems with, the documents said. But Ortiz told police that the two men shook hands and the problem seemed smoothed over. But soon the car stopped, and everyone but Ortiz got out to urinate, according to Ortiz's account.
The witness also told police he then heard gunshots before Hernandez and Wallace got back into the car without Lloyd and the vehicle sped away.
Wallace faces an accessory to murder charge in the case and has pleaded not guilty.

Ortiz said he couldn't see who fired the shots because it was dark. Back at Hernandez's home, Ortiz said, Wallace asked him to get a small gun out from under the driver's seat. Ortiz said he did and gave it to Hernandez once they were inside.
Ortiz said he then went to sleep. When he woke up in the afternoon, according to his account, the three men returned the Altima and rented a Chrysler 300 before returning to Hernandez's home. Ortiz and Wallace then went to an apartment in the area that Hernandez and other football players used. Wallace let Ortiz in before leaving for a long time, the documents say. The two then drove to Bristol. Ortiz told police Wallace said Hernandez shot Lloyd.
 
Aaron Hernandez admitted to a two-way police mirror that he shot Odin Lloyd, according to court documents obtained Tuesday by the Associated Press.

“That’s right, I shot him. Right in the face. Saw the last breath leave his body then we dumped him out back,” Hernandez bragged to a two-way mirror with four officers behind it taking notes. “Ain’t no one gonna find out, either. Who gonna snitch on me? Nobody.” “This is all between you and me, mirror,” Hernandez said grinning, according to documents.

The incident happened on June 26, the day Hernandez was arrested and formally charged with murder. Hernandez was brought in to Attleboro Court for arraignment and further questioning. While there, officers left Hernandez in a conference room alone to wait for his attorney. The officers, meanwhile, observed him through the two-way mirror.

Within minutes of officers leaving the room, Hernandez approached the mirror and began boasting about how cleanly he thought the murder played out.

“That dumpster down the street, behind the 7-11, where I tossed the gun?” Hernandez said, presumably to himself. “Perfect spot. Couldn’t have drawn it up better.”

Officers were astonished by how freely Hernandez gave up the information. Also, that he did not suspect that he was being monitored. Once Hernandez was done incriminating himself, officers entered the room to inform him what he had revealed to them. They also told him they had his confession on camera, which caused Hernandez to lunge for the camera in an attempt to destroy the footage, which he believed to be contained within the camera.

“We actually let him smash the camera,” an officer said. “We knew it would cost the department some money, but damn if it wasn’t hilarious.”

"Shayanna Jenkins further stated that this video surveillance system would ?allow for the viewing of both the front of their residence as well as the street," the police report reads. "Shayanna Jenkins went on to say that the video surveillance system records and plays the video on their home entertainment system."

There's no telling why Hernandez was, according to his fiancee, the target of multiple break-ins at his house. And it's perhaps telling that he didn't involve the local authorities in the matter of these attempted break-ins (or likely didn't -- surely the police would've known about the alleged break-ins before Jenkins told them if Hernandez had called the cops).

It's even more telling that, according to the police report, Hernandez had a security system expert visit his house in May and show him how to cut off portions of the security system to avoid being recorded.

"He showed Hernandez how to disconnect specific cameras from the recording device," a police report says according to the Herald. "(He) went on to say that he clearly labeled the connections so that Aaron Hernandez could more easily disconnect cameras at locations within his home where and when he wanted to avoid surveillance recordings."
