Active search for missing 17-year-old from Lynn

Lynn police say 17-year-old Brian Lopez hasn't been seen since Friday evening.

According to police, Lopez spends a great deal of time in the Lynn Woods Reservation.

The Lynn police and fire departments and Massachusetts State Police are all actively searching for Lopez. Further details were not immediately shared.

  • Last seen by friends and family on Friday night.
  • Family told Lynn police that the teen spends a lot of time in the 2,000-acre area of Lynn Woods Reservation.

  • His family told NECN that Lopez does not have any disabilities or medical conditions.
  • Lynn Police, Lynn Fire Dept, and the MA State Police are all involved in the search for Lopez.
  • Lynn police urge anyone with information to contact them immediately at 781-595-2000.

"It's been horrible. I mean, it's just very worrisome because it's not like him. He can go out for a walk but — and his phone, he doesn't detach from his phone. You know how teenagers are nowadays," said Jenifer Herrera, Lopez's cousin. "To us, it was kind of normal. You didn't think nothing of it. But now, we're here three days later and still nothing."

“It’s very abnormal for him to act this way to not even call because he uses his phone a lot very attached to it,” Herrera explained. “If something really bothered him, he’s a sensitive boy, yes he’s shy and won’t really say a lot of things, but when it comes to his mom he would if something bothered him very bad.”

  • His family says he's scheduled to graduate from Lynn Classical High School this coming year.
  • Surveillance video from Friday, from Lopez's neighbor's house, shows him leaving his Warren Place home wearing a hoodie and a backpack.
  • Police could be seen using a drone in their search Monday.
  • His brother said, "... He's usually in contact with my sisters all the time."
  • His phone was found miles away from his home.
  • His family is asking everyone to check their security cameras for any sign of Lopez.
Lopez's family says that he spends a great deal of time walking in the Lynn Woods Reservation, an area they searched Sunday. It's one of his favorite spots.

"He's just a walker," Herrera explained. "He loves to walk, that's one of the places that he used to go to," Herrera said.
