I'm wondering how old these remains could be, the article said 1 to several years.

I found one possibility.
Did they say what leg had the plate?

Melanie Metheny
West Virginia
21 years old
Missing since July 2006
Surgical scar on right ankle, plate and two screws
https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/418/3

They didn't say. I listened, LOL. Likely one of the details they use for distinguishing credible tips. "Outside of the lower leg." is all I heard but body language in a video said to me it is left. :)++

ETA: I'll try to find the vid again - could be my imagination, haha

Left leg, unfortunately:

A forensic anthropologist determined that the victim was:

Female, between 26-52 years old
The ancestry could not be determined, but she was likely white
She was estimated to have been between 5 feet 1 inches tall and 5 feet 9 inches tall

Evidence of prior medical injuries and treatments for the victim included:

External fixation medical plate on the lower left leg bone indicating a prior break
Nose shows signs of previous fracture and remodeling
Teeth show that there had been tooth loss and restorations
Clothing found with the remains include:

Sporto boots, ankle height, Daria style, size 10M
Long-sleeved white T-shirt
Cocoa Vintage brand black, fleece sweat pants, size small

I contacted Leanne's FB Find page Admin. She had posted about it and her frustration getting info from Everett PD.

Quoting m'self :blushing:

Team Leeanne did not know if she had an injury to the leg / nose but felt that anything could happen in the 3 years she has been missing, so,,,

On we go.

So I didn't imagine it! :)

In my defense the Middlesex DA PR doesn't specify which side.

As far as I can tell, Sporto doesn't make the Daria style boot any more, and Sporto itself might not be around. They're ankle high, possibly insulated rubber boots, along these lines (note I'm not positive this is exact same style): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Womens-Spor...809058?hash=item4b04c8b2e2:g:0CgAAOSwVL1WCGvw

Around New England, people usually wear heavy wool or fleece socks with them, so she might have had a size larger to accommodate that.

I haven't had any luck finding the sweatpants so far, though I have found sweatshirts of the Cocoa Vintage brand. Everything I've found so far dates from the 1990's.

It's not a summer outfit by any means, but nor is it warm enough for winter. It's the kind of outfit a local would put on to get the groceries or walk the dog in rainy or sleety spring or fall weather.

Charley reads that Melanie's surgical scar was on her left ankle, not sure which source is correct, though.
It also looks like they have a POI in Melanie's case, but no evidence to link him to her disappearance.

Thanks for cluing me in, I didn't see that in the first article I read.

The articles seem to have slightly different information in each one. Always helpful :p

I think Melanie is probably worth turning in. He doesn't seem to have any connections to the Boston area that would make him choose it to bury her, but it's only about 12-15 hours from West Virginia to the Boston area, so he had plenty of time to driver her up here if he wanted to.

Bumping my own earlier pist with map and commentary about the location.

It looks to me that the whole area where the gravel is located is fenced off. Interesting that someone got in there to dump her.

I'm 5' 5" and I get a 1/2 to a whole size larger in winter and hiking boots - which means I often get a size 10M. I think it just sounds larger than they really look.

I find it interesting, too, since they stated that they don't believe she was brought in from another location, which I took to mean she didn't come in with an outside load of gravel

10M means 10 medium, not men's.

Somewhat large for a woman who's under 5 ft 7 or so, MOO. (says the woman who is 5 ft 9 and wears a 9.5 ;) )

Did any of the news coverage mention tattoos?

I am 5 foot 2 and wear a 9. A friend of mine is 5 foot 7 and wears a 5 in kids. So i dont think we should focus on shoe size too much.

I agree.
In my family, we're all different heights and shoe sizes My taller younger sister has smaller feet than my shorter, older sister.

I don't have big feet but they're wide, so I'll often get a full size larger for the extra width. Women's wide are hard to find [emoji14]

No, no mention either way of tattoos. Since they think she had been buried for a while, they probably couldn't tell.

Unless she was stashed in the cab.
