I'm local and I've never even heard of this little boy. Why isn't this all over the news??

Giovanni's case was mentioned in an article today about the Essex DA.

[snip]

Blodgett said he is frustrated by lack of information on the disappearance of East Boston boy Giovanni Gonzalez from his father’s downtown apartment in August 2008. Ernesto Gonzalez has been held since the disappearance in the Essex County House of Correction in Middleton, charged with lying to a police officer. The charge carries a 10-year maximum sentence but, Blodgett said, “there is no statute of limitations on murder.”

Waiting for Giovanni
18 Aug 2011

Three years.

That’s how long Daisy Colon has been waiting for news of her son Giovanni, a 5-year-old who disappeared on a weekend visit with his father in Lynn on Aug. 17, 2008.

It is also how long that father, Ernesto Gonzalez, has been sitting in a cell at the Essex County House of Correction - waiting investigators out, refusing to tell them what happened to the boy.

thanks summer-it is time to bring Giovanni home to Daisy. :(

From summer's link:

The boy's mother, Daisy Colon, says she's frustrated.
No, really? I feel for Daisy so much. Giovanni's case is one of those that I always think and wonder about.

Too bad Ernesto wasn't too incompetent to kill Giovanni and chop him up and hide him all over the city.

I'm frustrated too Daisy. Me too.

A Lynn man whose young son disappeared during a weekend visit in 2008 is now competent to stand trial, doctors at Bridgewater State Hospital have concluded.

The development comes nearly three years after charges of parental kidnapping and obstruction of justice were dropped against Ernesto Gonzalez, 44, in the disappearance of 5-year-old Giovanni Gonzalez.

The elder Gonzalez appeared Monday in Salem Superior Court for a brief hearing before Judge Thomas Drechsler, who read from a letter that Bridgewater staff sent with Gonzalez to court.
