I am so angry right now I think it best I head on over to another thread for a bit. I do not doubt that this woman has been abused by her boyfriend. Her 8 year old courageous daughter confirms that through what she told staff at the school.

My anger is still there. Reading this mother's facebook pages and all the lovely dovey kissy face stuff between she and Alberto post Jeremiah's disappearance makes me ill.

Putting things together from FB/news, she has 3 children R (boy - 8), J (girl 7) and Jeremiah (would have been 5 on Dec 8th).

Elsa Oliver was held without bail on charges related to her missing 5-year-old. She will be back in Fitchburg District Court on 12-24.

During the arraignment, Oliver's attorney said he can't communicate or talk to his client so he's incapable of helping her.

Oliver was reluctant to be in the courtroom, but was brought in anyway. A doctor said Oliver has a history of substance abuse and is "suspicious and guarded" as well as "irritable and angry." The doctor said Oliver believes people have been poisoning her.

She was taken to Worcester Recovery Center to be evaluated.

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said on Monday authorities are treating the case as a homicide investigation, though Jeremiah's whereabouts are still unknown.

Family members outside the courthouse said they wanted to know why it took so long for the boy to be reported missing. They weren't sure if he was enrolled in school or attended daycare.

Oh i believe she has competency issues, that doesn't mean she won't be held responsible for her part. She may have been coping until the arrest. Something made her allow that creep to beat her kids til they bled and beat her. Competency is as likely as any other.

The state Department of Children and Families this afternoon acknowledged a “serious failure’’ in the handling of the case of Jeremiah Oliver, a five-year-old boy who was last seen by a relative on Sept. 14 and is now feared dead.

DCF Commissioner Olga I. Roche said this afternoon that a social worker and supervisor who were assigned to the Oliver family have been fired.

“This case represents a serious failure on the part of the social worker and supervisor assigned to the family,” Roche said, reading from a prepared statement.

Roche said “the social worker assigned to this case did not conduct the required in-person, monthly checks on the family, as required by the department. And the supervisor of the worker failed to enforce that policy. Both have been terminated.’’

Roche would not provide a detailed account of the agency’s involvement with Elsa Oliver and her three children. She said the agency first got involved with the family in September 2011.

This June — about a month after Sierra allegedly started abusing Elsa Oliver and the three children — Jeremiah’s day care provider reported that Elsa Oliver said the child was moving to Florida to live with his grandmother.

The social worker, Roche said, failed to check out the report.

According to law enforcement, Jeremiah Oliver was attending Reingold, but his absence was not noticed at the school, either, not until Oliver’s sister reported on Dec. 2 that Sierra was abusing their mother as well as the children.

Fitchburg school officials referred all questions to the office of Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr., which is overseeing the probe into Jeremiah’s disappearance.
