Puppy Doe suspect probed in church theft case
Radoslaw Czerkawski, 32, is the suspect in the theft of 11 checks from the rectory of St. Thomas Martyr Catholic church, where he stayed under the guise that "he was interested in becoming a pastor," New Bedford police Det. Capt. Steven Vicente said. The theft was first reported in May of 2012, police said.
"He left, presumably to go to Canada. It was after he had left that the church noticed three accounts had been accessed and that a total of 11 checks were stolen and cashed," Vicente added.
