Rodney Riviello, 69, was last seen Tuesday at 11:15 a.m., leaving Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. Officials said he may have been walking toward Jabez Corner.

Rodney is bald and has brown eyes. He is 5'10" and 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a collar-striped shirt, blue shorts, and a New York Yankees baseball hat. He also goes by Rod and may have a bandage on his arm. He currently lives in Manomet and is believed to be traveling on foot.

"(The hospital) told me he was released to home. We did learn that they offered him a taxi voucher that apparently was taking too long, and he became agitated and left without it," said Riviello's daughter, Michelle.

"We understand that he did not have his wallet, he had no phone, and he's out of pocket," Higgins said.

Wednesday evening, police released a picture of a silver Nissan Armada that picked up a passenger while exiting the driveway of Beth Israel Deaconess at about 12:30 p.m.

Police said the vehicle “may or may not” be related to Riviello.

The car headed toward the rotary at Plymouth North High School, police said.

Possible sighting

Over 100 police officers and dozens of K9 units continued searching for Rodney throughout Tuesday night and Wednesday day, but they have not found him.

Rodney was seen on Sandwich Street heading toward Warren Street in Plymouth. His last possible sighting was on Cherry Street in Plymouth around 2:30 p.m., according to his family.

His family is asking people to check their sheds, yards, security cameras, and doorbell cameras for any sighting of their father.

Plymouth police Capt. Jason Higgins said during the news conference that the search has already drawn a large, multiagency response.

"We're transitioning from a traditional ground search to an investigative search that leverages technology," Higgins said. "We will continue to look for Mr. Riviello until he is found."

Riviello's children, Dan and Michelle, held a press conference with police officials the following day to raise awareness of his disappearance. They said he had hurt himself in a fall and went to the hospital to get checked out. His daughter said her father, who lives in the Manomet section of Plymouth, had been issued a taxi voucher home but appears to have grown impatient waiting for the ride and left without his wallet or phone.

He may have received a ride at the hospital from someone in a silver Nissan Armada. Hospital security footage shows someone wearing the same sneakers as Riviello's getting into the car shortly after noon Tuesday. Police are asking for that driver to get in touch with them.

HIs disappearance has coincided with this week's heat wave, giving his children extra cause for concern.

The reward notice says that in addition to Plymouth, Riviello has ties to Provincetown and Boxboro, as well Clyde and Brooklyn, New York.

It is theorized that he could have tried to make his way to Provincetown, where his son lives, or to the home of his daughter in Boxborough, or possibly to former homes in Clyde, New York and Brooklyn, New York.

Riviello's children said he was on his daily morning walk Wednesday when he fell and was found by two women who called ambulance. Beth Israel told his family he may have broken his nose but released him after only a few hours to "home."

"They did want to give him stitches, which he declined," said Norris. "His appearance could be off. And they did see the damage that's been done to his brain from the strokes, so they knew that he had a mental impairment. Our focus is bringing him home and down the road it will be making sure that this doesn't happen to other families."

“We have a lot of unanswered questions that we need answers and clarity to, so we know to focus our efforts to make sure no other family goes through this,” Michelle Norris, Rodney’s daughter said.

Michelle and her brother, Dan Riviello, are in deep mourning for their father,

But they are determined to see that policy changes are made.

Rodney Riviello disappeared last Tuesday after being released from Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth.

He apparently vanished while the hospital was trying to arrange a ride-share service for him.

I hope his children get their heart breaking questions answered.

Could be any of us at that age

I'm wondering why they have not said where he was found? What is the secrecy?
LE usually does not say much when investigating a suspicious case, they want that silver car person who picked him up first for more infor. So awful and I wonder why or where he was if in public at all appearing to need some help before found by we don't know or where.

Not saying where he was found, just an open outdoor area. Water?

This isn’t specific but it gives us an additional detail.

Rodney’s family tells me Rodney was found within a mile of the hospital. And they say it is not clear where he was going.

Found deceased

Two children... severe dementia, living alone, probably some SSI services involved but the person needs to remember how to call a car service for disabled, too. There is such a service...the hospital is responsible for a person but as long as he walks out, they aren't responsible any longer. To call children, they have to have some guardians information on file. If he has severe dementia but no guardians, he may be on his own. So many cracks to fall through. RIP, Rodney.
