MISSING ADULT: Stephen Raras, 28, was last seen Thursday, January 17th, around 4:30 pm, in the area of Varnum Ave/Mammoth Rd. He was wearing a dark blue U.S. Navy style peacoat, jeans, white sneakers, and a black and gold Bruins winter hat. He is about 5’8” with a thin build and facial hair. An employee at the plant discovered the remains of Stephen Raras in the ground while using a trash rake to clear debris, according to a spokesman from the Essex County District Attorney’s office.

September 29, 2021 #UP113413 - A maintenance diver at the Lawrence Hydroelectric plant found several bones along with a shirt jacket and thermal underwear-type pants in approximately 60ft. of water. The bones were against the water intake grate. May be related to Stephen Raras Case # 2019-15825 who was found in the same area and identified through a DNA comparison with his mother. a bone from this case was sent and a profile could not be developed The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Okay, so this is what I'm understanding:

January 2019- Raras goes missing
December 2019- First set of remains found in hydroelectric plant, identified as his shortly after
September 2021- Second set of partial skeletal remains found at plant, DNA profiling unsuccessful
September 2023- Third set of remains found, case taken on by Othram
August 2024- Remains found in 2023 identified by Othram but identity is being withheld

Essex County John Doe (2023) is now Identified

Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner Team with Othram to Identify a 2023 John Doe
