BARNSTABLE — When Nantucket’s Trudie Hall went missing this summer, police started looking for her under the close scrutiny of the public. From the facts – and the rumors – the case seemed to be a mystery straight from an episode of a TV crime drama.

Get us that flashlight that finds blood, some DNA samples, a hot detective and wrap it up in time for dinner, right?

Well, maybe not.

Six months have passed since Trudie Hall disappeared after coming to Cape Cod from Nantucket.

The young Jamaican woman, who police sources have said is presumed to be dead, was due to give birth Dec. 14. She would have turned 24 a week ago.

Six months have passed since Trudie Hall disappeared after coming to Cape Cod from Nantucket.

The young Jamaican woman, who police sources have said is presumed to be dead, was due to give birth Dec. 14. She would have turned 24 a week ago.For her family, these dates are painful reminders of the mystery surrounding her disappearance.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe has steadfastly refused to declare Hall's case a homicide or release any new information about the case, including the results of DNA testing or the names of any persons of interest.

"The only comment I have is that the case is very much under investigation," O'Keefe said Friday.

A grand jury has been impaneled to investigate the case but no new information has surfaced, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

I continue to remain in shock that they can't come up with anything in this case. Could it be that they know more than they are saying? I can't imagine how they couldn't come up with something. Frustrating!

The remaining items taken from a man police questioned in connection with the disappearance last year of a pregnant Nantucket woman have been returned.

Trudie Hall case takes new tack

The search for the person who killed a 23-year-old Nantucket woman last year is far from over.

Vivienne Walker, whose daughter Trudie Hall disappeared after coming to Hyannis from the island on July 27, has hired a private investigator who is working closely with state police on the case.

Trudie Hall case remains unsolved a year later

A year ago today, Vivienne Walker was just beginning to grapple with the disappearance of her 23-year-old daughter.

As the already limited flow of details surrounding what might have led to Hall's disappearance has petered out, however, Walker holds out hope that her daughter will be found.

"It remains the same," she said this week about the status of the investigation.

Walker has increased a $15,000 reward to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for Hall's death.

"We're still asking people to come forward if they know anything," Walker said.

Although he would not say whether any developments in the case were imminent, O'Keefe made one of his strongest statements about the investigation so far: "I am confident that this case will be solved."

This will be interesting to follow...as tourist season begins. I don't for a min..believe it was random....but it will open a conversation about immigration and workers I think. I will have to refresh myself on this case....as I hope we all do.

HYANNIS — Human bones found in the woods of East Falmouth last week have been identified as the remains of Trudie Hall, the pregnant Nantucket woman last seen almost two years ago, according to sources with knowledge of the investigation.
