Stop doing business with businesses and corporations with unethical business models.

Force their hands.

Or throw up your hands and say there's nothing I can do, I got it tough, too, so I'll have a fries with that and supersize it.
And be cool with the gov't using YOUR tax dollars to help fast food workers while the corporation under which they work still makes a profit.

$200 billion a year makes it SEEM like they are all making tons of money. Some do but many many fast food places have slim profit margins.

If their margins are cut even more many will simply shut down (especially in low income areas where the profits are slim to begin with).

McDonald's is more likely to make profit from being a real estate company as they own a lot of real estate.

Not fast food, but Mr. Knot read me an article today about Costco. They voluntarily provide their employees with a very nice health insurance package. The CEO said that it was his philosophy that happy, healthy employees stay with the company. And less turnover is always better for a company.

And this is TOTALLY unrelated to the topic, but it's another reason to love Costco; they sell these rotisserie chickens there for $5. In the last year, the price of chicken has skyrocketed, but Costco has kept the $5 price. The CEO stated that sometimes a company has to absorb a little of the cost in order to keep loyal customers coming back .

This guy sounds like a winner to me.

Just throwing out some helpful advice for those that are interested, have the time, and are able. Grow your own food, if you have the property to do so. I raise a garden every year and can and freeze my veggies. I know this is not for everyone, but it works. I also buy an entire hog from Appalachian meats, sliced,and cut the way I want. An entire hog is a little over $200.00. That's for a 250 pound hog. I also pick wild greens and morel mushrooms when in season. Poke is also wonderful when deep fried like a potato chip. I live as much off the land as possible. We need to revert back to the way of our ancestors and make it work. Of course, I'm probably older than a lot here, and set in my ways. The best Root Beer ever, is when you peel the bark from a birch tree and boil it down and add some sugar. You don't need to have the coloring to get the taste. It also makes a great hot tea.

Oh, and border your gardens with daffodils! They are poisonous and wild critters will steer clear of your garden. Plus it makes it so pretty!!

Shake Shack is another quick service restaurant that treats their employees ethically. Their belief is happy staff leads to happy guests, one of the many reasons why Danny Meyer's such a successful restaurateur.

If the owner of subway had to sell his home(mansion) and move into a trailer park, then I wonder if this health care law is working for him, but I'm pretty sure this health care law will not effect him financially one way or another. Like I said my sons boss offers and has offered health care to all his employees since he opened, and his business has not suffered in the least. The employees are all healthy and know if they get sick they won't have to spend hundreds to thousands at the emergency room. As a matter of fact he just purchased land and built a new multi million dollar home, and we live in a very small town. Everyone is assuming that the health care law won't work. I say give it some time and tweak it here and there and I have a feeling it will be just fine. Other countries have had mandatory health care and it has been working fine for decades.

I'm trying to figure out why anyone would oppose it ... I live in Canada, where anyone can go to the emergency room and not worry about paying (of course, that creates another problem where people abuse the system but that's another thread).
