FOURTH Malaysia Airlines jet forced to abort flight

Another Malaysia Airlines plane has been forced to turn back in mid-air due to technical issues, the fourth incident involving the airline since the ill-fated flight MH370 left Kuala Lumpur less than seven weeks ago.

According to a statement issued by Firefly Airlines, around 15 minutes into the flight it was discovered that the aircraft’s landing gear was unable to retract.

How weird ... do airports usually have this many incidences within such a relatively short period of time? Who has access to all these planes?

Kuala Lumpur (AFP) - Malaysia will release a preliminary report on the disappearance of flight MH370, Prime Minister Najib Razak said, as the government battles widespread criticism over the transparency of its investigation.

"I have directed an internal investigation team of experts to look at the report, and there is a likelihood that next week we could release the report," Razak told CNN in an interview aired late Thursday

The report has already been sent to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the U.N. body for global aviation, but not made available to the public.

Usually, such reports to the ICAO are public, Quest says.
"In most cases, the report is published because it's not a controversial document," he said. "It's a statement of facts -- what happened. And if there are any controversial or difficult facts, they can be redacted."

How weird ... do airports usually have this many incidences within such a relatively short period of time? Who has access to all these planes?

No.
But most other airports/airlines have proper maintenance done. IMO, the fact that MA has had 4 incidents in just over a month means that maintenance isn't being done at all or not being done correctly.

As far as to who has access to the planes, I would guess maintenance crew.

Looks like in the last 5 years MAS had a left landing gear collapse on a 737 upon push back in Oct. 2009, in addition to the recent.

IMO many of the maintenance issues are directly related to MAL finances and cutbacks.

I was just thinking the same thing. What are the odds that an airline would have such a clean safety record, and then suddenly have 5 significant incidents in a month and a half?

Maybe there is a political statement being made after all, and maybe the flight crew of MH370 weren’t the ones making it. :facepalm:

Up to 8 military aircraft and 10 ships are planned to assist in today's search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

Today the Australian Maritime Safety Authority has planned a visual search area totaling approximately 49,240 square kilometres. The centre of the search area lies approximately 1584 kilometres north west of Perth.

The weather forecast for today is for isolated showers, with south easterly winds up to 25 knots, sea swells of two to three metres and visibility of one kilometre in thunderstorms and three kilometres in rain

Bluefin-21 AUV is currently completing mission 13 in the underwater search area. Bluefin-21 has now completed approximately 95 per cent of the focused underwater search area. No contacts of interest have been found to date.

The focused underwater search area is defined as a circle of 10km radius around the second Towed Pinger Locator detection which occurred on 8 April.

OH please, Lennon we dont need cameras in the cockpit ....aviation has become the safetest place TO BE on the planet. Schools are dangerous, military bases, as I experinced yesterday (!) home improvment stores, 7-11s etc etc!

It is so unreasonable to try to be doing something that huge.

If Boeing is unsure of what was found they will send a rep and that might take a few days for them to get there. jmo

Also, the material could be damaged from sea salt water, and take longer to identify.

Not an unusual number, imo. Meaningless, re MH370.

Today is a very special day for us Aussies – 25th April - ANZAC Day.

It is a day where dawn services are held throughout the country, in remembrance of all the diggers who stood tall for our country during WWI …. and at other times of combat … and who still stand tall for our country.

This includes the service people who are on the ready now to help in any way they can, including those that are helping in the search for MH370.

This year it is the 99th anniversary.

I watched the Canberra ANZAC Day ceremonies and marchpast. New Zealand high commissioner Chris Seed was there and laid a wreath, right with Prince William and Catherine, and all the other dignitaries.


US Secretary of State John Kerry sent a message too ... "in a message to commemorate ANZAC Day, said the US stands with its Australasian allies with unwavering support as a true friend and partner." And there was a US contingent in the marchpast.
