I have been following this here from day one and for days I thought it was a tragic accident. And even tho I am now more confused about every detail and every theory having a massive hole somewhere, I'd like to say thank you to all the "knowledgeables" and others here for research and up to date info, and patience answering questions that I'm guessing a lot of "lurkers" like me are too afraid/shy to ask in such a fast moving case.

Some people I have spoken to about it today are still quoting facts from the start that we now know to be false or simply have not a clue what I am on about. I'm like HOW CAN YOU NOT BE A LITTLE FREAKED BY THIS?!?! and want to read everything you can
! haha but its been great to come home and read all your questions, facts, theories (no matter how out there, because nearly 8 days later this is all pretty out there!) and hope against hope that they are ok out there, somewhere... I kinda have a feeling this will have the most tragic ending, but like questions, there is always hope...

*(I'm going to start this thread now I have seen the news after work this evening and hope my many new questions are within, I just know they will be)*

You guys are so awesome! I've been following all along but do not post much as my hands are slightly disabled. First thing in the morning i check this thread and it's the last thing I check before bed. So much valuable info here. :loveyou:

I thought of some questions:

I wonder if the Captain was training anyone to fly on his home simulator? If so, maybe he was letting that person fly and turned off transponder, etc, so no one would know. Or maybe the person he was training turned out to be a terrorist & he didn't know it.

The writers and producers in Hollywood are already salivating over this one. It is exactly like a spy novel and action movie plot.

You are right about who is in charge, too. It is like a high stakes poker game with the countries trying not to give up their "tell". Too bad hundreds of lives hang in the balance while they play out their hands.

Ben Affleck is probably already getting his cast together.

The back of boats are often squared off, but clearly the front of that one is tapered to a point. Shadows in the water and waves make odd shapes and play with the way things are perceived visually from above. Also the direction of the boat is a factor.

If you put your head on your shoulder and look at it sideways you can see it better.

I guess for that to be true, there would have to be many people involved (loading the plane, etc..).

Yes... And it brings to mind, again, that the x-Ray (sorry... I don't know the technical term) for the cargo wasn't working on just that plane that day...

coincidence?

I agree with the poster a few pages back who said there's no way the authorities are just starting to look into the backgrounds of the passengers and crew members. The Malaysians have downplayed everything right from the beginning but they knew something was wrong almost immediately, when control of the plane didn't pass over to VN like it was supposed to. I'm sure there was a scramble at that time to locate and contact the plane. Commercial planes don't just disappear without a trace without human intervention. There are too many monitoring systems in place to prevent anything like that happening, especially since 9/11.

You don't just sit on something like this, a potential threat to national security, for 8 days and then decide to meander over to the pilot's house for a look see. I'd bet a nickel that the background of everyone on the plane, including the babies, has been checked, re-checked, and checked again, and that process started within hours if not minutes of the plane's disappearance.

I just can't believe the Malaysians are the circus clowns they appear to be, and I also believe the US has a lot more control of this situation than we, and maybe even the Malaysian government, are aware of. At least I hope so.

I agree with background checks starting instantly. This is an international issue, not simply subject to Malaysia and it's airline.

I must say though, I think Malaysia's "ruler" is not as exposed (enlightened) to the fact that everything is now instant and global as far as news goes. Perhaps isolated in thought and control, perhaps by stubborn choice or fear of exposing himself if he did keep up with the digital era, he has controlled himself into lack of understanding or recognition. The tight control of anyone, much less a nation, leaves huge gaps when one speaks that are immediately obvious to anyone listening, but leaves the speaker clueless as the speaker thinks that ALL are within the speaker's frame of understanding. His world, his thoughts, his control. It can even happen with simple life and individuals you know. They cannot think beyond what the think they are in control of. No others exist in their minds, no other comprehension but their own. They really think you think and feel as they do. You see what they have manipulated, but that is never reality.

The Emperor With No Clothes.

A number of people (friends/colleagues?) said right from the start that the Captain loved flying so much he had a flight simulator at home. We're now seeing this in a different light, but from the Captain's perspective - it IS a bit weird to have your own flight simulator, so if you were planning on using it for a terrorist act, would you be so open about having one? Wouldn't you hide it in your basement or something? Unless it's bluff and double bluff.

And I can't believe the Malaysian authorities are only just searching the pilots' homes now (presumably local media/residents could confirm this?). I think they knew all along one or both of the pilots had something to do with it, but they didn't want this to be known publicly for obvious reasons

Now the search area has changed (and it's looking less likely the plane crashed), wouldn't it make sense to review satellite images of 08/03/14 from around the time the plane disappeared, assuming we're not looking for a wreckage? I've been searching on Tomnod (found a lot of boats) but the images are from 2-3 days after the flight went missing. Does anyone know if you can choose a search area and time/date on Tomnod (and if so, how)?

Also I think it is fairly common for pilots and stewards/stewardesses to be passengers on a plane. They often fly to the next assignment. Especially red eyes. If I were the airline I probably would keep this fact to myself for awhile. (public wise).

You mean 03/03/14.

Ty so much. She's been sick since June with phantom gall bladder pains. Gall bladder was out 5 years ago and nobody can figure it out. While they were doing ultrasound I asked the technician if she could track down the missing plane! lol

OT. That happen to me. Outcome-i had stones in my duck.

I'm not saying the pilot is or isn't involved, but I don't see the flight simulator as a big red flag. Pilots, even of small private planes, are strange people, they are all about flying. I know because my husband and my FIL are pilots. If we had the money, hubby would have a realistic cockpit set up in our living room. But since we're broke, he has to settle for crappy rudder pedals and a USB throttle that hooks up to his computer. Men with more money have better toys - that how I see the pilot's set up.

Where does another pilot making contact and getting a mumbling response, fit in?

Has anyone heard anymore information in the media regarding the pilots mental health or recent behaviour? I'm sure I read there was something in the pilots past (perhaps a long time ago) but nothing more. No reports of recent family problems or bereavement or anything.

I keep thinking back to pilot suicide. People either kill themselves actively or passively. If you kill yourself by crashing your car, you can either manoover the car to make yourself crash or put your foot on he accelerator, sit back and allow the car to veer off on its own path.

The co-pilot makes the second approach less probable. They'd never allow the pilot to just fly against instruction and run out of fuel. That is, unless the co-pilot was locked out.

I will be good to get an idea of whether authorities are focusing on the pilot or passenger take over.

Edit: Oh and the pilot would have to have felt the need to turn off the transponders (which is why I doubt this senario).
FYI...

Poster QueenD posted on Thread #4 -post #1004-

-NBC News reported that the pilot had some psychological issue a good while back...and authorities are looking into it now.-

However... I do not believe we ever found a MSM link to verify this...

HTH...:seeya:

OMG. My doctor hasn't checked me for that yet! I've been having "phantom pains" as well and I had my gbladder out a year ago. I will bring it up!! Thanks!!

Sorry OT.

But that's funny.

She probably had as good a chance finding than anyone else lol.

Well I've been up since last night and the only thing I no for sure is we don't know ANYTHING FOR SURE!!!

I think I'm having caffeine psychosis :hills: :juanettes: :okay:

Live on CNN now (sorry, can't find a link yet):

Transponder was turned off prior to "goodnight" message from cockpit to ATC. Calls into question who it was on the plane who said goodnight.

ETA: Correction: according to Richard Quest it was ACARS not transponder.
