I usually am so excited to fly and get away.
I am flying with my dog next Wednesday.
I am not excited.

The Malaysian Airlines seating plan I saw had a 2-5-2 arrangement. That was for the economy class. Business class was 2-3-2.

PS : The ER on the end of the designation stands for Extended Range....Think implications in this regard..............

Well... I got back from a birthday dinner for my BIL...

After spending ungawdly number of hours this past week glued to this thread... Tonight I realized just how conversationally stunted I have become...

I couldn't finish a sentence without interjecting "transponder"..."Indian Ocean"... "Decompression" ... "Malaysia"... Somewhere in the middle...

many conversations were cut short...

My nephews covered my toddler grand nieces' ears in horror...

Sadly... I was told I will not be invited back again unless I rehabilitate myself from Websleuths...

I will miss my family... :sigh:

:D

Why would the pilot fly 7 or whatever hours off the flight path?

I'm sorry, I do not think it's pilot involvement.

If it was one or both of the pilots, WHY would they maybe fly to some place?? What is the motive of that?

One of the pilots has been flying for a long, long time. And we're to believe he suddenly got involved with terrorists?

I understand, you all can have your ideas about the pilots and you are free to do so, I would rather not be involved in that discussion and I will discuss other theories.

JMO.

There is a lot of background to the political climate in Malaysia, much of it posted here by John51 and others.

- evidently, from what I've learned, Malaysia's gov't can be very corrupt
- there are those in opposition parties who want to change things (to put it mildly)
- the captain is a strong supporter and has raised funds for the opposition parties in Malaysia
- the acquittal of an opposition leader was overturned the day before this flight disappeared

I think the answer lies somewhere in all of the above information. Hope this helps!

I don't think the passengers would have been incapacitated by a chemical being brought onboard.

The cockpit crew would have depressurized the oxygen in the cabin and the masks only last approximately 15 minutes, if even deployed.

In last night's thread, it was discussed about how much oxygen the pilots/cabin have if a plane were to be in distress.

Things like sarin gas though could be released before anyone realized what had happened and do damage regardless of oxygen masks - I don't think it's likely given the logistics of the hijackers making sure they didn't incapacitate themselves, but I was just thinking about it.

I used to suffer with severe insomnia also Lunesta is awesome ,,, no hangover the next day .....it mirrors actual sleep onset it is not a barb its a diffeeent class drug (hypnotic) sound horrilbe but it is P A R A D I S E ! Never fails either swallow 7 minutes later dreaming and snoring away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

really expensive tho like $12 a pill

it has saved my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Its awesome for events just like this......because you folks are highly addictive ! nor worries you can try to make it thro everything at if you make and you look up and it is 3 in the morning you swallow your lunesta and you can still go down AND THEN

get up and come see what you all have found out while I am dreaming away I have dreamt about this sitution and they have not been pleasant dreams........

I should probably try this, but the fact that some people do weird things while on it makes me worried. Since I have such an ability to stay up on sedatives and alcohol, I'm afraid that I'd be up and getting into my car or something...and I've heard it does cause hangovers, but I'm sure that varies for each person. I like ativan because it literally has no effects on me unless I'm actively trying to sleep - it doesn't make me tired when it would be inappropriate to be tired or make me lose coordination or anything like that - I can drive and take a final on it and be fine.

Flight 370 failed to make contact with Vietnam Nam, turned and flew back across Malaysia, seemingly unnoticed even though radar picked this up makes me think this will be a case of making a political statement. I also think there were many others involved and not on the plane, who shared the same views. This whole scenario moved along too smoothly.

Hi aa951 :seeya: I hear you sistah, I'm exhausted from thinking about it right now myself. I'm always open to hearing other theories!

Thanks for understanding, Snoods. It's just that, where I am coming from on this is that this was very well-planned - I mean, perhaps spanning years of planning. So they could have easily found terrorists with pilot/aviation backgrounds, and then trained them and trained them on top of that experience. What I'm thinking is that, obviously, if they have planned it this well, they are not going to put two or whatever number of people on the flight to carry out the mission who cannot, in other words do not have the skills, to carry out the mission.

YKWIM?

Oh my, is this just a regional Texas thing or is anyone else seeing the "For Farmer's Only" online dating service commercial on Fox? With the woman in the mom jeans and the dude with the cover-alls? If it's just for Texas I'm moving.

Nope. We see it here too!

I so hear ya! Today (yesterday now?) was my birthday. And throughout the day's activities with my husband and kids, I kept glancing at my iPhone for updates. Whenever my husband and I had time alone, I immediately turned the conversation to flight 370. DH is now interested, especially after this 7 1/2 hr ping - so I have a real life person to discuss it with now. :loveyou:

It still doesn't satisfy the lack of manifesto, statement or claim to justify his actions, which I believe as a methodical, attention to detail person that an experienced pilot is (especially considering the planning that would have needed to go into this) he would have included here.
Knowing a pilot or two, I can agree with your assessment of the personality type. However, we do not know what they found at his home or if he left something behind. Malaysia has not been forthcoming with information.

I still find it difficult to understand, if it was the pilot, the need for all the stealth actions and to fly it more than 7 hours out of the area.

Has anyone suggested that maybe it was someone who wanted to create a mystery that would keep people guessing for years, like Amelia Earhart or DB Cooper?

All right, well good night folks. I hope tomorrow brings an actual lead in this case. If the passengers are still alive, I cannot imagine what each passing day is bringing. I know probably most governments are assuming they are dead, but well we just don't know. And what if they're alive?? So many days passing and passing and passing.

I think it would be easy to pin this on the pilot .

Could it be true? I dunno .transponder being turned off as reported one minute after the plane reached its cruise hieght , leads me to believe that is might not be the pilot.

The seatbelt lights stay on until about that time and anyone getting up before that would alert people there was an issue.

If either pilot was involved why wouldnt they have shut those devices down sooner and saved the gas they had and not flown toward china at all? They disapeared from radar. If they know that was going to work as well ,why waste time?

If they had deviated earlier from the flight plan and dropped off the radar, Malaysia could've had their military intercept the flight, maybe take it down if they thought it would be a greater public threat (e.g, a 9/11 type of attack).

Someone posted an article earlier that the best way to fly a plane undetected is to try to stay between the radar boundaries for different countries. This plane fell off the radar just at the edge of the radar boundary between Malaysia and Vietnam.

I think they did what they did to get some time/distance between themselves and any potential action to stop them.

ETA - just read this (bbm):

The first clue that perhaps one or both of the pilots were involved stem from when the plane made a sharp, deliberate turn from where it last communicated with Kuala Lumpur air traffic controllers, and before it would have to communicate with Vietnamese controllers, according to the U.S. official with knowledge of the latest intelligence thinking.

"This is the perfect place to start to disappear," the official said.

It is a very much read-between-the-lines. It is weird that the Malaysian press does not touch on this, or have they?
