I suppose he could have jammed the trigger/switch to keep it running. Maybe he laid on the floor and let gravity finish it.

I would think "complete transaction of the neck" means the head was severed completely. "Chainsaw wound to the neck" would describe the same type of wound.

Putting way too much thought into this: Say he lays on his side and pulls the chainsaw, hard, down on his neck. If its a high power job, it would cut fast. Being on his side, his neck is a bit off the floor, so if he loses his grip, gravity and the cutting action would pull the saw down to the floor.

As someone said, that takes determination to take yourself out that way.

What are you thinking that "smells funny"?

Yuk! I actually had the vision of of him jamming the trigger and laying on the floor. I guess it could happen. What a lot of trouble to go to. The story said he was already "vulnerable."

An ambulance service spokesman said: ‘We were called to an address in Bishopstoke to reports to a “concerns for welfare.”

What made someone think to call an ambulance service instead of just checking on him? Or call a family member of the man if he'd not been seen out and about for a couple of days? It said someone called 999. I guess that just hit me as odd at first.

Um... GlitchWizard, you ain't right. :D

A friend of ours found a friend of his (I know that's complicated) dead in her garage. She had committed suicide by cutting her own leg off with a circular saw. I can't even imagine a woman thinking of suicide with a power tool. She probably bled out in minutes. If I didn't know someone involved in the actual discovery of the body I wouldn't have believed it. She had some serious mental and drug issues. She had at one time stolen the brand new car of the guy that discovered her. He never pressed charges because she didn't hurt the car and she was stoned out of her mind when she did it.
