Concerned locals told Facebook groups that he was last seen near Wentwood Forest and that his car and his phone were left on Caerlicken Lane.

The last known sighting of Marcus was from Ring Doorbell footage where he was walking through the lanes, on his own, away from his vehicle with the registration VA65 FCX.

Gwent Police launched an appeal for information on his whereabouts last Wednesday, July 31.
Marcus is described as around six foot tall, of large build with dark brown hair shaved to the back and sides and worn longer on top.
He was last seen wearing grey shorts, a grey t-shirt and Burberry sliders.

"We’re asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 101 or send us a direct message on social media, quoting log number 2400258746.

"Marcus is urged to get in touch with us."

Gwent Police are renewing their appeal for information to find Marcus Barter, 30, from Newport, who is missing.

There was a sighting of Marcus at around 2.30pm on Thursday 1 August near Coed y Caerau Lane in Newport, which is now the last known sighting of him.

Marcus’ family have also issued the below statement as part of the renewed appeal:

“Each day that we do not hear from Marcus or know where he is, our worries as a family grow.

“This behaviour is very out of character for him; he is a vulnerable person and we’re concerned that without his medication he could be at further risk of harm.

He is described as around six foot tall, of large build with dark brown hair shaved to the back and sides and worn longer on top; he was last seen wearing grey shorts, a grey t-shirt and sliders.

It is interesting to note that the second photograph was taken from moving CCTV footage, which now appears to have been removed. The footage showed Marcus walking along the lane but clearly looking back at length in the direction he had come from.

I see that the well-known medium, Rochelle Lindsay Beattie, is now heavily involved in this case. It's not something I welcome personally, but I know that many others will see it as a good thing.

The CCTV is still viewable if you do a bit of digging on Facebook via the missing page set up for him and yes you can see him looking behind for a long time - perhaps he was being followed or feeling paranoid.

I have looked on streetview and the cctv was from a ring doorbell here 51°37'30.9"N 2°53'24.1"W

Then the potential witness was sighted here 51°36'47.3"N 2°53'24.6"W - you can see the gates match.

Have attached a map showing details. (A) was where he parked his car, (B) seen on CCTV and then (C) is where the man in the baseball cap was seen.

I wonder if this is a mental health crisis or was he meeting with someone nefarious? MOO.

Edited to add - it’s interesting that the police have said ‘We don't believe that these two people were together but we think that they were both in Coed y Caerau Lane between 3.30pm and 4pm on 1 August.’ So they think the man in the baseball cap and the lady were in the same lane as Marcus at some point. Whether they met is unknown.

There is also a private Facebook page with additional information that anyone can join. The CCTV footage is still on there plus the drawings from the medium involved. It’s called SEARCH FOR MARCUS BARTER

Hope Marcus is found safe and well soon. Very worrying that he left his phone behind in his vehicle :(
He had two phones. The one was still on him and pinged within the area and hour after his last sighting from a house’s cctv. After this hour the phone went off. There is lots of information on SEARCH FOR MARCUS BARTER Facebook page, set up by his brother and friends.
