Q: It seems mJ was the suspect all along, what changed now?
A: Not appropriate to comment on the investigation and case.

Q: Since charge is in Baltimore, do you suspect the crime happened here?
A: Venue is appropriate here in baltimore city.

Q: Cause of death?
A: No, ethically bound to not comment.

Q: Message to Barnes family?
A; I hope this provides them with some measure of closure.

Q: Is movement of the case in any way tied to the suspended detective?
A: No.

"Mr. Johnson is the only person we have indicted in this case." "Based on a strong and very thorough investigation, we believe we have the right guy."

Thank you for transcribing Surfie! :blowkiss:

You're welcome. I'm rather surprised they believe he acted alone.

I'm not. He was in the apartment alone with her the morning she went missing. What I don't recall, is if LE stated she was sexually assaulted or there was evidence she was sexually assaulted when she was found.

Now I'm wondering about the alleged sexually explicit/pornographic photo's. Did he (allegedly) murder her to keep her quiet about them?

I felt like for sure his brothers/friends helped him dispose of the body. I guess not. In any event, I am so happy he has finally been charged with her murder.

I am glad he's been charged. I feel so bad for her half-sister, the guilt she must be feeling.

I still believe more arrests are coming. Michael had help disposing of her body. I wonder if anyone gave up the goods on Michael to keep from being charged. I want justice for Phylicia but its just interesting how this arrest came on the heels of the lead detective being investigated. I hope they get a conviction with this so called evidence they have.

If you go back through this thread, you'll see that the lead detective was investigated for something entirely unrelated and, in fact, in the linked article, there is speculation that his suspension was announced/rushed because they knew this charge was coming and they wanted to get out in front of his defense.

Also of note, MJ was indicted by a Maryland Grand Jury... Usually that would involve presenting at least a week or two of testimony -- if not more, since Maryland GJ proceedings tend to be used as quasi-fishing expeditions. That means these charges were in process way before the detective was suspended (and before he did the thing he was suspended for).

I would love to know how he got Phylicia either to leave the apartment with him, alive, or how he got her out of there, deceased, in daylight hours...it does seem unlikely, in the second scenario, to be able to accomplish that alone.

IIRC, they brought cadaver dogs into the apartment, and there were no hits. Is that correct? I am pretty sure I remember that. So did he take her somewhere else?

I'm not recalling anything about cadaver dogs. What's coming to mind is the mention of tracking dogs and that she was tracked to the front door or just outside the front door. But it was never clear exactly where the scent ended. Just that is was very near the front door.

What you might be recalling is when they processed the apartment, they said they didn't find anything.

I can't believe MSM hasn't printed a mug shot, or no one has found a mug shot.

I want to see MJ's mug shot!

I am glad they made an arrest but I worry about the "no snitching" mentality in Baltimore City...they couldn't even get a conviction on those twins who burned that poor pit bull Phoenix earlier this month because the people who testified before all the sudden "didn't see nothing".
I think they shouldn't try it in the city because the juries are often just as bad around here...
