Derek Adams was last seen around at his home in Byron at 11:30 Wednesday night, just before a storm dropped two feet of snow.

Adams is mentally disabled and left without his shoes, glasses and medication.

A dog also disappeared from the home on Thursday morning, but returned on Sunday. Harriman says investigators aren't sure whether the dog was with Adams.

Despite help from game wardens, state police and K-9s, there's still no sign of Adams. They don't know if he set off on foot or got a ride from someone.

I hope they find him, too. If I were closer, I'd be out looking for him.

Very sorry to hear this. I haven't seen or heard anything about his recovery in the local media yet.
RIP Derek Adams.

Derek Adams disappeared without a trace from his home in Byron, Maine in the early hours of December 29, 2016. According to the Portland NBC affiliate WCSH6, a hunter found skeletal remains on October 10, 2017. Authorities suspect they might be Derek’s remains. The family is now waiting for official confirmation from the state medical examiner’s office. The Oxford County Police Department was unable to comment on the status of the lab results, but confirmed to Dateline that Derek’s missing persons case is still open. Anyone with information regarding Derek’s case is urged to call the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department at 1 (800) 733-1421.

Thank you for posting that. I never saw a follow up news article that they had identified him after they'd suspected they'd found his remains.
