Anne Marie Doroghazi was found murdered in Milford in September 1981. The case remains unsolved.

The murder of Anne Marie Doroghazi, is one in which Innsted police had a suspect, but insufficient evidence to make a case. Doroghazi was living and working at Camp Dearborn in Milford, and without a car, she would often walk along General Motors Road to a nearby gas station to buy pop or cigarettes, according to the Milford Police Department, which lists the case as open.

She was last seen alive Monday, September 27, 1981, in Milford. Two days later, her partially-clothed body was found in a ditch off General Motors Road west of Martindale Road. She had been strangled and her purse, which contained money, was discovered nearby...

''The Milford Police Department is still following leads in two violent crimes that occurred over three decades ago, but has been unable to close the cases. If you have any information regarding these cases, please contact the Milford Police Department at 248-684-1815 . You can remain anonymous.

''The partially clothed body of 20 year old Anne Marie Doroghazi was found in the morning of September 29, 1981. The investigation determined that she had been killed at an unknown location sometime between September 27th and September 28th. She was discovered in a ditch near Camp Dearborn off of General Motors Road and west of Martindale Road in the township of Milford. The Oakland County medical examiner said she had been strangled. It is believed robbery was not a motive as her purse containing money was found near the body.

Anne Doroghazi had worked with the camp maintenance crew for three years at Camp Dearborn and lived in a trailer/ home at Camp Dearborn. She was last seen in Milford near Camp Dearborn approximately two days prior to the discovery of her body on September 29, 1981. Anne Doroghazi did not have a car and would walk along General Motors Road to a nearby gas station to buy pop or cigarettes. Numerous people were questioned and leads were developed on one or more possible suspects, however the lack of evidence and information kept investigators from making any arrests.

Anyone who may have seen Anne Doroghazi walking along the roadway or knows anything regarding the case, please contact the Milford Police Detective Bureau at (248) 684-1815. You can remain anonymous.''

''They are three young women from Michigan whose faces have long since disappeared from headline news, but whose families have never given up hope of finding out what happened to them.

Kimberly Louiselle, Christina Castiglione and Anne Marie Doroghazi were all murdered in the 1980s, and the similarities between their cases has led many to suggest their deaths may have come at the hands of a serial killer.

However, regardless of whether or not this proves to be true, investigators believe there is still a chance modern forensic techniques could one day lead to answers to all three murders ''

Well the other two cases have now been solved. Let's hope Anne's case will be resolved soon as well!
Her family deserves answers.

Milford Murder Still a Mystery Forty Years Later

Anne Marie Doroghazi, age 20, Murdered in September 1981

Anne Doroghazi’s partially-clothed body was found in a Milford Township ditch on Sept. 29, 1981.

The 20-year-old woman worked at nearby Camp Dearborn but hadn’t been seen for about two days.

“We believe that she was placed there that morning,” admitted Bill Petersen, a retired Detroit homicide detective who has reviewed the case for the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. “The killer wanted her to be found.

“If he had wanted to dispose of the body … he would have chosen, certainly, a different place. The body was clearly in view from the road. I say she was placed there that morning because it rained during the night, and she was completely dry.”

While 40 years cold is the apparent status of this murder mystery, Milford police say they actually suspect they know who killed Anne.

"In my opinion, this case is not a 'whodunit'," Sgt. Ed Pilch said. "We know who is likely responsible and we have been working to establish enough evidence to proceed. We believe she knew her murderer.

"I have always said that this is a solvable case, and I still believe it today. I cannot give a timeline as to when this might come to fruition. (With Oakland County' assistance), it could be a lot sooner than we ever predicted."

As with many older cold cases, challenges include potential witnesses and others possessing vital information dying, moving or vanishing.

Also, physical evidence that could help resolve the case is "somewhat limited and we have to be careful (with) what we expend as a result of further testing," Pilch said...
