Four of Shade's six other children tested positive for drugs when they were born, according to CPS reports. Toxicology reports have not been released for her seventh child, the one who was found dead in her car.

Shade tested positive for marijuana and cocaine during her pregnancies, as did the babies once they were born.

CPS reports said there was an "unreasonable risk of harm" if they left the children in Shade's care.

Officers were called March 18 to an apartment complex in 900 block of North Pine Street for a complaint of an unresponsive infant, according to a Child Protective Services petition to terminate parental rights for the father. Two girls, both of whom are under 10, were found home alone but Shade and the baby were gone.

The father of the girls returned home and told police the baby — the same one who was later found dead in Shade's car — had been born in the bathroom, according to CPS records.

Earlier that day, he said Shade had called him, saying "her baby was not breathing," according to the records. When he returned home, he saw Shade crying but thought the baby looked fine, like she was sleeping. He didn't contact any emergency services to report that the baby was not breathing, according to the CPS report.

Police are still searching for a Lansing woman who was reported missing last week along with her newborn daughter.

Lansing police confirm the newborn baby found dead in a car on March 19 had no signs of injury or trauma. The girl's mother, Ashley Shade is still missing. Police tell wilx.com they believe she is alive and is in the area.

UPDATE: Mother arraigned on previous case Thursday

The case that brought Shade in front of a judge on Thursday was for an assault and battery charge from June 2016.

That case lists WL, Shade's sister, as filing the complaint after Shade punched her several times in the face.

This allegedly happened while Shade was driving a car and WL was in the passenger seat. They were arguing and Shade began punching her, and according to the complaint, said "she was going to beat her *advertiser censored*."

The sister was dropped off at Shade's home on Willow Street and called the police.

She refused treatment and was driven to her home on Lyons Avenue.

No, she has 7 other children. 5 are in protective custody. It was #8. :confused:

AS doesn't need more children. What she needs is family intervention to get her into a mental health facility (or inpatient rehab) for her mental health and/or addiction issues. Birth control advice might be helpful, too. From her Facebook, it seems that AS has some college education. Hopefully, she can get back on track to a much better future for herself and her children. Ashley Shade
